MS2PnP vs MS3ProPnP

Hiya, just getting my parts list together for a spirited driving turbo build and am conflicted about whether I should go MS3Pro or MS2. My build goals are around 200wtq/whp and have a tuner locally who is good with MS. Do I need to spend the extra $400 or will a MS2 do the job? Nothing fancy about the build. I don't really care about launch control, anti-lag, or big power. Thanks in advance...

Do you have AC?

If you wanted to play video games would you buy a ps3 or a ps4?

Yeah!

neither, PC only ;D

While I don't know all the differences in a ms2 vs a ms3, you can't really compare it to a "ps3 or a ps4" but if you really want to. If he can buy a ps3 for $120 and the ps3 will support all the games he wants to play, then the additional functions of a ps4 is irrelevant and not worth the cost. Heck, a PS4 can't even play ps3 games from a disk.

yeah, i understand what he was getting at but i play ps3 for guitar hero and god of war games, while i also play a ps1 for nostalgia. havent played a ps4 tbh lol...

i just wanted opinions on whether the extra $400 is rather best spent somewhere else

A few things I know for sure, if you decide to go e85, I heard the ms3 algorithm runs circles around the ms2's. If you ever decide to swap a vvt head into your car, you'll need a ms3. MS3's CL boost is also better than the ms2 variant.

ms2 is fine, will get car running well. and make any power you want

ms2 vs ms3 is not how much power youre going to make

ms3 has better closed loop idle, so once tuned, less idle wierdness.
better electronic closed loop boost control
supports VVT
better AC control

basically its better at getting the car near oem smoothness.

You should probably do what your local tuner suggests. :dunno:

Look at the grand scheme. Set your budget. Make your purchase. Also, if you're willing to wait for second hand, lots of people sell their ms3's for close to the going rate for a new MS2PNP. I didn't wait, or couldn't catch the deal fast enough on the MS3, but I did catch a deal on the MS2...so here we are. Pretty sure the MS3 is better - but I'm all for learning with the MS2...and then if the need arises, I'll upgrade to an MS3 and recoup some of the original costs by selling the MS2. For now, the MS2 is enough. NB, no VVT, looking to boost at some point, etc. It's already leaps and bounds better than any bandaid.

StanTheMan 02-21-2019 03:52 PM

if you're going to have VVT there really isn't any point having a MS2.It can be done with piggy backing a VVT controller but if the MS3 can do it on its own why would you bother with an MS2?
E85 although Ms2 can do it. I prefer running 2 separate maps. which isnt ideal either. nMS3 you can swap between maps. while MS2 has ,map swapping fo9r Nitros & other fuels .....it doesn't work for E85. MS3 is just better at it.

so if your favorite games that you like to play are called
lumpy aftermarket cam idle
VVT
E85
table swapping

MS3 is the choice of choices. If you cant afford it . save until you can.

thanks for the advice everyone. my biggest headache with my last boosted car was the idle issues so on gonna bite the bullet and just go ms3pro
