Ms3 basic - Virtual dyno NB2001 vvt.

I made a couple of runs yesterday with my NB. I logged it with tunerstudio and checked the result with virtual dyno.. I laughed hard when i saw the graf!

Is it possible that the vvt i so freaking lame???
Stock basemap from Rev, 3gear, Cold air intake, 205/40/17, 6-speed.

Yes, the person you pay to tune your car will have that spark map.

I think you should do the pulls in 5th and the basemap is just a base map to get you running and is designed to be safe for that engine anywhere in the world with all the variables that go along with that. If you do searching you can probably figure out how much to add and where.

I can try 5th, less transmission loss i guess? The basemap should what i understand be equal or better than stock? Ofc is it safe and not maxed. I remember that the MCM guys got almost exactly the same numbers as me when they dynoed their NB vvt's before turbo/supercharging. According to them, there was almost no gain with the haltec and a real tune?

I'm going to do the big google search today.. Thanks m8 :-)

Considering the factory mx5 ecu is tuned to run on fuel made from whale blubber and operate in contries like antarctica. Your logic is flawed. If you live in a country with better everything. Expect better everything when tuned.
Basemap is to dial in the required background bullshit so that your car starts. (i.e. wasted spark, 4 tooth whirley thing, cranky cranks voltage, disco mode blinkers, hungry hippos in the boot)

Ok dudes!

Yesterday i went to the dyno (Dynomite hub dyno). I made more power than i thought but less then i should?

First two runs with stock ecu (fat line on graph) Then the tuner tried to make more power with my ms3 (Thin line= best run with ms3)

Also posting the final spark-table

(Weird torque line up to ~3k rpm is apparently the dyno leveling/loading up the run?)

Thoughts?

On your Virtual Dyno pull the higher gear you can use will give more accurate results. I wouldn't even think about a 5th gear pull in a stock miata, but I can usually find a good safe place to make a 4th gear pull. Also adding your occupant weight, assuming you weigh something, will make HP go up.

That's stil a very conservative spark. You are N/A right? with a vvt engine. What fuel are you tuning for?

NB's have about 23-27% drive-train loss. so if that's the case stock is around 146 bhp you should be running just above 110 rwhp plus or minus a few. everything being stock. You're running at 117rwhp which is probably a litte better but that also depends on altitude, ambient temp, humidity , air pressure & so on.

nothing is ever the same.

The good thing about Virtual dyno that you can adjust for most of those things and it gives you an idea if your tuning or mods added, have given you a net benefit.
adding your weight might add a few hp.....its not huge. You then also need to adjust for outside temp to keep it all the same

If you're running a Mazda Speed.....something is not right. My Clapped out 1.6 has more power......but running on E85
