MS3 setting base timing w/ no stock ecu *noob question*
I have Joe P’s old Miata. It ran great for years and never had to screw around with it which made me complacent around MS3. Recently, the harmonic balancer is slipping and SNC repair was done. I lost all timing marks. I’ll recreate the marks on harmonic balancer. Note: MS3 is permanently wired in with no stock ecu available.
Noob question: how do you accurately set the base timing with no stock ecu? Gnd10 paperclip is not usable anymore with MS3, correct? Just time it like any regular old Miata using CAS and set it at 10btdc with timing light and then Tunerstudios for the rest? Or is there more to it? Thanks |

As der_vierte said, lock timing to 10 degrees on Tunerstudio.
This is done under Ignition Settings / Fixed Advance -> change from Use Table to Fixed Timing -> Make sure Timing for Fixed Advanced(degrees) is set to 10.0. Then use a timing light |
