MS3 Tuner Studio Idle issues
I installed my Reverent built MS3PNP in my completely stock 99 10AE Cali car and after some auto tuning I am pretty happy with how the car is running. However my idle is all over the place. Sometimes it stays up at a steady 2000rpm, others it idles perfect at 850. Sometimes the IAC seems to work perfect and will raise the idle to 1300 when the AC is turned on, others it goes to 400.
I am new to tuning and don't know what setting I should look at and don't want to just start messing with stuff. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! |
Here is the section in the manual on tuning idle on the MS3.

Thank you Lars!

I have studied that link, and the information available about TS. Still having issues. Today the idle was stuck at 2200, car was warm but idle would not settle in. After I shut the car off I restarted it and after a few seconds it settled into a nice idle of 850.
Please help |
and what was your idle dc% at the time? what you dont know?
oh okay, then how can we help you? |

I logged a short log where it was idling high but I can't seem to get it to upload. I was going to try again and of course this time when I started the car it is idling fine.

because I have no fucking clue what I am doing......
Here is another try.... |
why are you composite logging? I dont need to see how your crnak and cam signals look.
I just need a regular DATALOG bro. |
Do I need a program other than TS for that?
Yes, I really am THAT fucking clueless! |
No, just click Datalogging -> Start, like I told you in my email.
|
I did that, it gave me the file I posted here and sent you.
It looks like it is an Ignition Logger? That is all I can find under the Diagnostic tab? |
It's not under the diagnostics tab.
VERY Top: File > Options > Data logging. |

I think I did it!

This may sound far fetched, but it wasn't so in my case.
I was having intermittent high idle issues recently, and went through every setting in the MS that had anything to do with idle speed. And then, I found out that I was driving around with a slightly sticky throttle cable. Funny thing is, it only acts up once the car is warm, and in stop and go traffic, where the engine actually idles on the freeway. Sometimes the smallest details are overlooked. Our cars are aging. Just assuming everything is in perfect mechanical order may make one miss the solution by a mile in such cases. |
Thanks GC, but my cable is free moving but I wonder if I shouldn't try to recalibrate the tps?
