MS3x - Frank's build for '95?
 

I was looking at Frank's build and I really like the tidiness of it. I know it means more work (which I would like to avoid) and part of me is considering ditching the whole thing and buying an AEM, but I'm wondering if anyone can tell me this:
Excepting the alternator circuit, could I pretty much copy his build instructions for a '95? I'd be removing a buch of stuff from the mainboard and I think building the VR circuit if I understand correctly, but should this pretty much just work? I really hate the DB37 mess behind my passenger seat.

That said, what are MS1s going for these days??? Is $275 a reasonable price?

Yes, I'm all sorts of confused and undecided at this point, no need to point that out.....I find the promise of easy install for the AEM appealing but it's another couple hundred bucks still for a used one.

His writeup is a bit purpose built-espeically when you consider the NB cricuits. But I, myself, refer back to it form time to time.

honestly, right now, to add ms3 on your MS1, there's no circuits you need to add or subtract in order to get it runnin gon that cpu.

You make the input mod changes like I've reference to you before, slap the CPU on, swap cases, and you could star thte car right up...this is a 15-20 minute upgrade.

I don't see any reason why you can just upgrade your current MS1 to a case/harness like his.

I don't think the MS3 daughterboard will fit in the OEM case. Problem with fitting the connector into the MS3 case is that it needs the heat-sink area to attach to. I'd have to remove most of the transistors. I'm guessing this is possible by transferring most of the work to the MS3X, but I'm not sure what most of them actually do. I don't want to just start pulling off necessary circuits if indeed anything is necessary but the power supply.

MS3 and MS3X builds would be exactly the same for NA or NB Miata, with exception to the NB will require a solution for alternator regulation. Follow the "VR + pullup" tach input in the manual. Pretty straight forward.
