Default How to determine which generation ECU Pinout I have? (1995 Eunos 1.8 VR-Limited)

Hi guys...I have searched but came up short.

A couple years ago I built a DIYPNP for my '95 JDM Eunos (1.8 VR-Limited), at the time I had a 1994 Eunos 1.8 J-Limited2. So I built it in accordance with diyautotune's guidance for the 94-95 ECU and the pinouts for the 94-95 model that I found in various places on the net.

I now have a 1995 VR-Limited Eunos, so my question is: is there a way I can determine exactly which generation of ECU I have fitted and hence which pinout? i.e.:

- Chassis Number Changeover?
- ECU Part Number / Code?
- Engine Number?

The following posts from Mr_Slow on Nutz implies that it is likely to have the later 96-99 Spec ECU, which will mean I'll have to makes some minor changes before installation to update to the newer config. (Vr-Limited Ecu - The MX-5/Roadster: FAQ's - MX5Nutz Forum)

I want to be sure before I install! I did note the config I used when I assembled, so I'll post it up when I get home from work.

Thanks in advance!

David

Hi there Rich, thanks for the reply.

I'm just working up spreadsheet with the changes I'll need to do now, it turns out that I'll have to completely rewire the Edge Connection section to move to the 96-97 Pinout.

Whilst the pointer from Mr_Slow is very much appreciated, I'm very keen to know if there's a way I can determine which one I definitely have before starting!

If I get time this arvo I'll have a look at the std ECU but I'm doing an AutoSolo tomorrow so have to do some other bits first.

Dave

I think I'm being a complete idiot....the 96-97 ECU uses three of the connection blocks rather than two on the 94-95...so I can just look at the connector/loom.

I can't believe that didn't occur to me earlier, what a numpty.

Just for the record...it is a 3 connector ECU as suggested, in passenger footwell (JDM Eunos):

****. I now have to redo my DIYPNP.

Well that wasn't so bad, once I reacquainted myself with the set-up and pin outs I re-did it last night. So glad I went over the top the first time and had spreadsheet of everything I did, made it fairly straight forward (assuming I've done it right!).
