MS3x installed, tach doesn't work.
Any idea what I can do to troubleshoot my factory tach gauge now that it's not working since installing the MS3x?
Also, if anyone wants to give me a base fuel map/tune for 15 PSI on a GT2554R with 460cc injectors, that'd be awesome :giggle: |
Is it getting CAS signal?
|
Yes, been driving it around all night without the tach.
I need to figure out how to AutoTune this thing. |
Did you ever figure this tach issue out? As soon as I installed my MS2 PNP my tach stopped working. The car runs fine and the megasquirt reads the correct rpms.

basic settings > tach out > on | tacho | normal.

The spot happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?

I feel more retarded than normal. My car hasn't had a tach since I installed the new megasquirt 2 PNP from DIYautotune. About 10 miles of driving after I installed it the car is now running on 2 cylinders. It appears that one coil is not firing. The car is using their base tune, aside from adding some timing and tuning AFR's.
I was under the impression the stock tachometer should work right out of the box with a PNP unit, is that incorrect? Do I need to physically wire the tach output on the megasquirt to the tachometer? When I go to Tacho Output it is enabled and normal. The base tune had the dwell settings at 3.0ms, when I contacted DIY for help they suggested I change it to 5.0ms. Would this have fried the coil? I changed it to 3.0ms now, but the coil still doesn't appear to be firing. I could just wire in my COPs, but I hate to install them if something is wrong and they're just going to get fried too. |
you dont have ms3. start your own ms2 issue thread :)

why not just wire your cops correctly?
|
I believe I did wire them correctly, but then again I'm a noob so I could have misinterpreted the directions. It's actually LS2 coils, not COPS - sorry - I ran a fused 12V Feed and Engine ground, then have the signal wires directly from the MS3X to each coil. I was under the impression Tacho Out on pin 26 could be wired directly to my 1990 tach input signal, am I mistaken ? I did confirm I have the Tacho pullup jumper on JP3 installed.
Thanks ! |

Thanks ! not directly, no. gotta wire to the black/white wire, and then jump the yellow/blue wire in the engine harness that used to plug into the Ignitor. |

For the Ignitor connector i do this https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1408663718 And then I wire tacho out to the 2I main harness connector. |
