There is a 26-pin connector (uses a Tyco plug similar to earlier Miatas) for access to additional I/O, ignition outputs for COP, CAN, VREF, and sensor ground.

Is there any kind of CEL use or even better, programmable CEL control?

What about VTCS control?

Yes, that's standard MS3 stuff.

Someone still has VTCS butterflies installed? Easy to control, but should be removed for moar powa.

The dyno shown, is that using the out of box map, or is that with a tune. What kind of performance can we expect out of box in a mazdaspeed with stock parts? How much can be gained with a custom tune; I guess the underlying question is how tweaked is it out of box for a mazdaspeed? Can it be run without any tweaks if the setup is stock?

The dyno plot is with the out of the box Mazdaspeed tune.

wow. that is very impressive. Especially the low end torque. Were you monitoring AFR? Curious how conservative it was.

I ordered mine last night and hope to have it installed this weekend. The USB to Serial converter was out of stock, does anyone have recommendations on one that I may purchase locally? Also I have the FM Intake, Exhaust and FMI, I'm assuming the included base map will get me started and I'll just let the autotune do it's thing. Lastly, will there be instructions included with the PnP telling me how to connect the Wideband that I ordered with it. Kind of excited to have actual power below 5000rpm.

I'd recommend getting this one here. Tested USB Serial Cable.

Bestbuy also sometimes carries them (and stocks at some stores) under the dynex brand. They are not as good as the one linked above, but if you are stuck and want something local could be a solution. If it doesn't work should at least be an easy return.

The RadioShack brand one works.

I would specifically avoid the Radio Shack adapter. Most seem to work, but the ones that don't cause major problems.

I have not used the one from tunerstudio.com, but I trust the source.

If sourcing local, the key to success is ensuring that your adapter uses a genuine FTDI chipset. Not a Prolfic chipset, and not a knock-off FTDI (though that can be difficult to determine at retail point of sale).

Ben can we expect to see the MS3 PNP Pro for the 96-97 cars?

Not likely. 96-97 PNPs (former Gen1 and present Gen2) sell very poorly. As in not just our worst selling Miata specific product, but the worst selling PNP we make. Hard to justify the resources to develop and stock a product that I know won't sell.

Super secret squirrel says we may be releasing MSPNP-Pros for some other Miata applications, which would be compatible with a 96-97 if something like a Boomslang jumper harness were used.

I was afraid of that. I was hoping the 01-05 non MSM connector was the same and just required a different wiring job from your team.

I bought a 96-97 MS3PNP from Reverent but have not been able to make it work. It was DOA on arrival. Can't connect MS Tuner or anything. Not being stateside has complicated the issue of return. I now have a $1k+ paperweight.

I currently run your MSPNP1 and would love to change to MS3Pro. If something changes with MS3PNP pro for the 96-97 let me know.

If we don't decide to release an MSPNP Pro for '96-'97 models, it would be eligible for an MSPNP On Demand group buy. We'd need 10 pre orders to make it happen.

Could you not just pick up a MS3Pro and then wire it to a DIYBOB to have pnp abilities?

I would not consider wiring my strong suit.

If I were to go that route I would just eliminate the connector all together and shorten the harness. Can you recommend someone to mate the harness and MS3Pro?

Braineack should be able to do it for reasonably cheap.

I think you're best off waiting for the 90-93 model and getting a 90 > 96 wiring adapter from Boomslang.

Or getting your current MSLabs ECU working. Dimitris is known to offer great support.
