Mostly just like the idea of a fully plug and play install. Once one is available, I'll upgrade and sell mine. Don't expect to gain much but simplicity and reduced failure points.

Hmm. Not sure how strong the demand is for 66 Dart PNP ecus, but good luck with it none the less.
Just kidding, although that white Subaru sort of has a plug and play system in it. And there were a few hints dropped at the MegaMeet about what one of the next models would be.

What's interesting to me is why the 99-00's are "johnny come lately's" to the aftermarket party so often? It seems to make more sense to ignore the 96-97 rather than 99-00 (if you're going to choose to ignore model years).
Production numbers suggest there's more money in the latter years. There were more NB's produced in 99 than in 96-97 combined!

I guess the thought is that they are newer and less likely to be modified. But, seems to be an argument that is increasingly out of touch with reality. The sheer numbers should've pushed the balance over by now.
Or maybe, it's because the NB's are viewed as substantially more complex? Who knows.
Anyway, I'm going outside now to see if I can track down where my MS wiring has gone wrong. Ack!

If I had to guess, I'd say that the reason for the order in which the units came out is as follows:
The 1.6 was first, because it's what they had lying around and was a hugely undeserved market. The '94-'95 was next because it's completely identical except for a few wiring changes. The '96-'97 was next because it's very similar to the others. The NB however is a different animal. New development work is required for things like alternator control, and I suspect they'll have to go with the MS-II in order to support the factory crank and cam triggers.
To me, it makes sense for DIY to release all the NA units first, as they're all pretty similar, rather than postponing them while they do the NB development.

Joe nailed it: All the NA cars are very similar, so we were able to use a lot of the development work from the first one to launch the other two. The NB is going to require more development work and is likely to be running MS2/Extra because the different sensors require it.
