MSPnP: Trigger angle question
 

DIY Guys,

I noticed in the 94-95 map, you've got it set up for a trigger angle of 65, with +22.5. I'm wondering why you did that? On my car (2000 motor with 94 CAS), I set it to 68, and then just adjusted the CAS until the timing light matched the megasquirt. Would there be any reason to change to doing it your way?

yeah, you could have done it their way without using a 12mm wrench. why did you bother changing it to 68 to begin with if you were just gonna adjust it manually with the CAS?

While you can adjust the timing in the same manner as a stock ECU, by adjusting the cam angle sensor, MSPNP gives you another option: adjust the trigger angle with MegaTune under the spark settings. Increase the trigger angle to retard the spark, or decrease it to advance the spark. Adjust the number until the timing is at 10 degrees. We’ve seen trigger angles from 50 to 68 degrees, and some engines may need it adjusted as far as 40 to 75 degrees. If the trigger angle is under 50 degrees, you should rotate the cam angle sensor to give you more trigger angle. MSPNP requires a trigger angle of 50 or more degrees to obtain full spark advance.

Well, basically what I did was to change the trigger angle until the timing light matched the megasquirt. That left me with a trigger angle up around 78, if I remember correctly. Since the docs (megamanual or F1, I can't remember) said you want to be between 60 and 70, I set it back to 68 (I think I picked that number because a lot of .msq's in the settings thread used that), and then adjusted the CAS back until it matched the trigger angle.

Note, I have a normal 3.0 pcb setup from spitfire, I've just been looking through the MSPnP base map for hints.
