MSPNP2 MAP sensor part number
 

Hey everyone,

After troubleshooting an issue with my Miata where it starts then immediately dies, I'm almost certain that it's the MAP sensor in the ECU. I bought this Miata already modified and tuned so I'm new to this. After a lot of help from others, it's looking like the MAP sensor.

It doesn't make sense that I'd have to get an entire new ECU just because of the MAP sensor. Does anybody know the part number on the MSPNP2 or a source for the part itself? Also, is there a way I can not use the MAP sensor to try and get the car started? Not sure if there is a way to get around the potential MAP sensor.

Just had to replace mine a couple weeks ago. This is what I replaced the internal MAP sensor with, and no issues as of yet. https://bit.ly/33sj00T

I ran an external 3 Bar GM sensor with my MS3X. I had it wired to the EGR valve OEM wires which have Signal Ground, 5v, and the wire to the ECU. It is in a convenient spot right behind the intake manifold for a short boost line. With some creative depin of the harness and a jumper wire you can get the OEM egr wire to the internal jumper post for the MAP
it will be much cheaper to just solder in the replacement though.

I believe the old MSPNP2s use NXP MPX pressure sensors, possibly out of the 4200AP series, but there are others. I also believe that these things are EOL/LTB/NLA since the hardware is something like 20 years old.

I also think that NXP/Freescale have other options in this form factor that would simply need new scaling values (4250AP for example).

Edit: just dug up an old picture of the PNP2, they use the 8 lead gull-wing, not the 6-pin SOP. Still NXP/Freescale/Motorola MPX though.

I'm running into a similar issue with my map sensor on my ms2pnp v1.0 MM9697 board. Problem is that I bought the mapdaddy thinking its a simple line up the pins to the holes on the board and solder on, but the board doesn't have anywhere for me to solder it to! SOOOOOO, now I'm out 100$ and have to potentially get an external and run that instead...

anyone have a guide maybe that can help me install the map daddy for the pnp? It doesn't say it is incompatable with the PNP, but I'm guessing they aren't the same type because the one in the 1.0 is much larger than the ones in the later versions from what I can see.
