MSPNP2 Noob

I installed MSPNP2 on my 96' and seem to be misunderstanding a few things.
1) Why is my TPS stuck near 140% on the base map? When calibrating, it gives me the same ADC values no matter how far the throttle is pushed in (1019-1023 ADC)
2) Is my coolant temp gauge important? Mine is either at 0 or 180 degrees and doesn't seem to be reading correctly.
3) On a US 1996, do I need to remove the ST Sign 10amp fuse?
4) Whenever I give it gas, my wideband reads extremely rich, under 10afr while the engine drops in rpm and almost stalls out, and after a split second of this, the rpms will spike up and I can give it throttle like normal. Will fine-tuning my fuel chart correct this?
I know your first reaction to this is probably "Google it idiot", but I already have for all of these and have come up with no rock-solid results from google or this forum. I'd appreciate it if someone who actually knows what they're doing could explain these simple things to a nooby idiot like me. Thanks!

#1 has to be a wiring error.

#2- do you mean the coolant temp gauge on the dash or on the computer screen? The one on the dash is dumb, the one on the computer screen should show you the real temperature of the coolant.

#3- yes, I believe so.

#4- you need to tune. start by autotuning VE map (you have the paid version of TS right?). Then look at your acceleration enrichments. This may be related to your TPS issue in #1.

If your throttle position sensor is not reading correctly then your acceleration enrichments will be terribly screwed up

by wiring, do you mean the actual wires coming out of the TPS or the boards in the MS? And yes, I'm talking about the gauge on my computer screen.

Schroedinger 10-25-2017 10:03 AM

I forgot the 96 has a stock TPS. In that case, the sensor is probably broken if the resistance isnt changing. Replace it.

i just replaced my tps and it is still reading 1019-1020 ADC. could the actual wiring harness be messed up? Also, my coolant temp sensor on my laptop dashboard is still fluctuating from about 90-180 degrees

Schroedinger 11-04-2017 10:01 PM

Huh... stumper. Did you hook the TPS up to a multimeter to see if the resistance is changing when you sweep it?

Try putting in a new coolant temp sensor. Cheap part, 1/2 hour install. Mine was original to the car, went bad a few months ago. Easy fix.

Clean all the grounds and make sure they are all there. The big one on the back of the ppf, the ones next to the throttle body, and the one from the engine to the body should be removed and scuffed for freshness. If you have more than one thing that's not reading right then what they have in common is probably grounding.

suggests you swapped signal and 5vref. sounds like your taking your 5volts and sending it right back to the MS.
