NB 99-00 and MS1 parallel install
 

I had a lot of reading on this and several other websites but my understanding is still blurry. :facepalm::facepalm:

I have a MS1. I know it's an old and absolutely not the best ECU ever. I'm NOT going to update it to MS2 soon.

I'm planning to use it for parallel install on NB 99-00 miata. I know, it's not the preferred solution, but this is the way. I need to control spark and injection. Stop.


Q1: I reworked the Cam&Crank circuit as per https://www.miataturbo.net/megasquir...89/#post305857
Is it enough to get OEM sensors recognized and get good readings or should I switch in any case to a NA CAS?

Q2: Triggering wheel.
As far as I understood, OEM triggering wheel with uneven teeth is not read by MS1.
In parallel install, do I need to change it?
If I change it (i.e. to OEM 36-1 Wheel - Miata Turbo Forum - Turbo Kitten is watching you test compression.), my OEM ECU will not read it anymore, so car will not start, correct?

Q3: Alternator.
In case I wish to go with the standalone installation, the only additional circuit I have to do is this one, right?

Then I will just change trigger wheel and that's it. Correct?

Q4: Firmware.
CLT & air temp Easytherm settings for 99-00? All I find is for CLT, not for air temp. Should I keep it as it is?

MS1 requires an NA CAS or a 36-1 crank trigger; it does not support the NB trigger wheel arrangement.

A1: you need in any case OR NA CAS or 36-1 trigger wheel.

Q1a: then, why there's the guide to update CAM/CRANK sensors on MS1 too? Only crank should be done, then.
Q1b: in case I go for 36-1, the CAS will not be read at all --> I have to move to a standalone installation. Right?

And then we go to Q2... which more and more seems to lead to Q3...

Presumably the note for MS1 is for those who wish to use this circuit with an NA CAS. We haven't tried it ourselves.
