Default NA to NB sensors. Car won't start

Hey guys,

I recently wired in some NB sensors for my car. 01 motor in a 96. The car was running fine on ms3 basic using the na CAS.

Now that I have the sensors in, I can't get the car to start. It will turn over, but I don't get an RPM signal. I had to assemble my own connector for the cam sensor, but it seems unlikely that that is the issue. Looking from the front of the car I have it wired power, trigger, and ground from left to right. I tired switching the power and ground and the car wouldn't turn over.

On the attached composite log I think I am missing the the cam signal.

I also attached my ignition settings. I tired starting with rising and falling edge. No difference.

Any ideas? I'm sure that I'm missing something simple.

Quick 96-97 related question. You didn't wire the NB crank sensor to the factory 96 crank sensor right?

Don't rely on your wiring. You've (no offense, I've done it) most likely fucked up some wiring if it was running before. Check continuity to ground on the ground pin, check for batt voltage on the 12v pin, and check continuity to cam-in from plug to ecu. Might as well check the same for the crank.

Thanks for all the advice.

I tried setting the cam signal to JS10. The car fired but sounded pretty out of sequence. It kind of sounded like it fired while the exhaust valves were open. I'm getting a not rpm synced errror.

I will do some more reading on the board specific terminology and changes that may need to be made.

I will also double check the wiring.

Another random issue was VVT related. I turned it on and immediately got an error that that pin is already being used by something else.

Well I think I figured out my problem. Here's another composite log. I think that shows I am getting all the signals. Not sure what the patterns should look like though

After taking that log I put the NA CAS back on. The car still wouldn't start. I used the MS spark check tool (very cool) and discovered I had spark but my coil packs were wired for the wrong cylinders. Easy fix and it started right up. I think if I wire back up the NB sensors it should be good to go.

Thanks for the help. Have a chuckle at my expense.

Also change the ignition input capture. If it works ok on the 4G63 with the "Falling edge", when set to 99-05 it needs to be set to "Rising edge" instead.
