Need some help- AutoTune isnt getting me anywhere close to the Target AF

I have been trying for a few days but havent had much luck with the autotune yet. The car has been running almost off the charts lean!

These are my tables now- I dont know know why AutoTune is going nuts with that bottom row. I have changed it not to autotune below 850RPM

Car is a mostly stock 94 miata engine in a 7 Chassis.
Basically has an intake, exhaust and DIYPNP and no emissions stuff.

Any helps appreciated!

I tell it to ignore below 30kpa and below 1500rpm. Put your idle valve in test mode, set it to a really low idle, then about 850, and then about 1200. Tune those by hand. Set the 20 kpa row to ~55, make sure it reads full lean or close to it in over run, then leave it alone. If you're running lean everywhere, ctrl-A the table and multiply by ~1.05 until it's closer to your target AFRs*.

Other tips, if the cursor is hovering between two cells, either RPM or KPA, that are close together, like 28 and 35kpa, the VE numbers should be close too. You've got a few that are really far apart in the 850-1200 and 28-45kpa range.

BTW what injectors are you running?

*you should be targeting 14.5 at idle, 13.8 is needlessly lean.

P.S. Are you on Mazda comp mounts? They love a 900-1000 rpm idle, so if 850 is your target I'd up that for a little less vibration.

13.8 is lean? I'm thinking you mean rich but want to be sure.

The car idles well when warm. Needs a bit of work on the cold start but idles at 450 rpm very solidly when warm.

I haven't raised the idle mainly because I have such had heat problems that the lower the rpm the less heat I put into the car.

Is there something I am missing? I assume ve numbers increasing means adding fuel? I got some cells to 100 and haven't seen it change much on the af gauge. Just want to be sure I'm going the right direction.

I appreciate your reply! Definitely going to take the 20kpa out of auto tune!

Curly was spot on.
I would add that you should turn ego control off for autotune.

I had read both ways but most recently post I found said it can stay on. It is not going to work while on auto tune.

Turns out my big problem is a bad fpr and a pump was not pushing more than 40psi. It was an old external pump. I got an aeromotive unit but need some fittings to install it. The 255lph walbro pump is very nice this far.

Hopefully that's where the mystery ends! Will update this once I get the fpr in

EGO will work during auto tune. That gives the benefit of not running lean during the tuning run. VEAL backs the EGO correction from the calculation of changes needed. Best of both worlds.

EDIT: Just remember to write the changes to Flash at the end of the session: "Save on ECU". If you were not "Update Controller", then click both "Apply" and "Save on ECU" (I think it used to be "Send" and "Burn".
