Ive been lurking a couple of days and finally figured id stop by to say hello.

let my introduce myself.

My name is peter, i am 28 and living it Atlanta. My background is in IT (information security with a concentration in forensics and data recovery From Chattahoochee Tech). When i was in High school my father purchased a 1986 Mazda Rx7 that i fiddled with for some time till i gave it away. During this time the RX7 community was just then getting into MegaSquirt's and i dabbled in building and selling them off (the ms1 with the 3.00 board) and experimenting with a plug and play unit. It worked well but the support was not really there at the time(MS1 2.0 board) and i was young so i ditched the car for another RX7. Currently It is under the knife to receive major upgrades that are too long to list.

Basically ill be here to answer any questions you guys may have, so dont be afraid to PM me or hit me up at ForumHelp@DIYAutoTune.com.

When is 90 50% higher than 100?

thenuge26 02-07-2013 05:18 PM

When it's in base 18!

Yay computer science!

Edit: I just realized you said 90 is 50% HIGHER than 100. Reading comprehension fail.

And this is why software engineers must never be permitted to create design specifications. :giggle:

Well I'm still gonna remember that, with the modified question of course. ;)

Modified question? I haven't changed the question.

It's actually pretty obvious, and doesn't require the use of base-18 arithmetic or anything silly like that.

thenuge26 02-07-2013 06:08 PM

I mean the way I misread it is still an interesting question.

I was going to guess degrees F vs. degrees C but it didnt work out :(

What is the answer?

On a side note, I work in a hospital and all our thermometers default to Celsius. The patients often ask if they have a fever after I've checked their temperature. If they're not confused or smell like vomit and/or poo, I occasionally joke "have a calculator?" Like it's some "+32" conversion. A few of the smart ones get as far as the "multiply times nine..."

Joe Perez 02-07-2013 08:49 PM

So really, no takers at all, then?

90 is 50% more than 100 when you're typing it in on the front panel of a microwave oven.

Mobius 02-08-2013 02:00 AM

Oooh, fail, FAIL JOE PEREZ!

I had a microwave that would take 100 as 100 seconds.

Being the young geek that I was, I spent way to much time trying to convert # of minutes into # of seconds before I figured out it started taking minutes:seconds after a certain number. I forget what that number was now.

When your idle control valve is wired wrong.

I like to type 90 instead of 130.
