Not building boost with MS2E (builds boost with reflashed ECU)

Guys, I have a 2002 LS with a BEGi Shanghai kit with the following:
The car holds 17mm/hg vacuum and boosts fine with the BEGi ECU reflash (using stock AIT). I switched the ECU to my Rev-built MS2E, calibrated my TPS, connected the yellow wire for my wideband, changed the wiring for the GM AIT sensor, used the basemap timing and found that it doesn't build any boost at all (maybe 0.5 psi). AFR is good from the base VE table, actually a little bit on the rich side. I understand that it is the base map, base ignition table and VE table and all and that VVT is gone. It starts fine, idles fine (12.5 AFR). I can't do VEAL at the moment because all it would do is the area below 100kpa (non-boost area). Can timing totally eliminate boost? The car accelerates like a normally-aspirated car and the boost gauge simply refuses to move past 0 psi. I tried it with EGR deactivated and activated in project properties, but no dice. Again, if I simply swap back to the reflashed OEM ecu (I kept the MAF on), I experience the awesome boostlies that these cars should have came with from the factory. Attached are the msq and short data log file from last night. Thanks for looking. |
ebc?

No ebc.
I have manual boost controller with a 12 psi can. When I had an NA with ms1, even with the timing off , it built boost. |
Uhh, that's really weird. I don't think even the weirdest fuel/spark map would make a turbo completely not build boost.
|
Only thing I can think of is EGR. It's hooked up.
But would it fail in open position? Also, if it's failing in open, why work with the reflash? Can VVT make this much difference? |
easy way to check, disconnect it with car off, should stay in closed position

Didn't get a chance to do above last night (left Tunerstudio laptop at work).

You have overboost protection set to 0 boost.
Extended > overboost protection |

I will do that tonight as I left my TunerStudio laptop at work yesterday.
Are there any benefits to turning the EGR valve off? |

Ben, if this is the root cause, I owe you a case of your favorite beer or something. Seriously. |
If it was set to zero...it wouldn't simply accelerate normally would it.
Wouldn't you feel some sort of Spark/fuel cut when boost started to climb? EDIT: /zeroMSexperience... |

It's set to cut 0 spark events, but I assume "both" means it will cut fuel as well.

Here's what it's currently set at. I don't see zero in TS for max boost values in overboost protection.
Is it the Hysteresis low and high? That's currently set to 10. |
The screenshot I took is from the tune you posted. Does it still not build boost with those settings?
Since you still have a cat, you're gonna want to make it fuel cut only. |

Since you still have a cat, you're gonna want to make it fuel cut only. I have a problem then, because that screenshot above is what I am seeing on my TS laptop with TS pointing to the same project and msq file. However, when I open said tune on my work computer, it shows 0.0 for max boost (matches what you are seeing). If I download the tune from this thread into my TS laptop and open it, I get the values from my screenshot above (set to 176kpa abd 220 kpa). Grrrr. |
Hmm, the text from the file shows 176kpa like your picture. Must be something to do with opening it in a temporary project.

Working with EFI analytics to see what's up...and they suggested updating the firmware to 3.3.0
According to Rev, no firmware update is needed for his units, which I think is awesome (shows that they are the closest thing to plug n' play). |
