o2 and wideband....

ok, well ive done research but come up empty every time......

on the MSPNP can i delete the stock o2 sensor and put a wideband in place of the old o2 sensor in the exhaust and just have MS read only the wideband or do i have to have the stock o2 sensor ?

thank you!

I would say leave the stock O2 in its place and just unplug it. Get another bung welded in a place a little lower than where the stock O2 is located. From what I have heard wideband O2's tend to malfunction if they get too hot.

It is best to run the MS only on the wideband sensor. However, wideband sensors should be placed further back in the exhaust stream than the usual narrowband location, particularly where a turbo is involved.

I left the NB sensor in place (simply to fill the hole in the pipe) and placed a second bung about 12" upstream of the catalytic converter. The cable from it is tie-wrapped to the transmission, and comes into the car through a small slit I cut in the rubber shift boot (the one below the cosmetic leather cover, you have to remove the armrest piece to see it.)

Search is a wonderful thing. I was about to ask the same question, searched first, and found this thread.

I was really hoping I could use the stock location and not have to pull the downpipe to drill it out. Oh well, I've learned the hard way too many times, do it right the first time.
