OEM Gauges
 

I have recently got my car running on an MS1v3 built by myself as per braineaks thread running it standalone
Everything is working fine except for the OEM tacho and water temp gauge. both of the gauges work fine in megatune, both giving steady accurate readings
I am trying to figure out if this is related to the Megasquirt or a seperate issue I may have caused when I had the dashboard and motor out.
I have lifted heaps of covers around the dash cluster and checked that everything I can find is plugged in correctly and also all of the plugs I can find in the engine bay

If anyone can shed some light on anything i may not have connected or setup correctly it would be much appreciated as i have to get the car inspected this friday

The car is a 1990, 1.6L with a Greddy turbo setup with intercooler etc and is right hand drive if it makes any difference

The water temp gauge should not have been at all affected by the ECU conversion. The one on the dash is driven by a separate sensor from the one that drives the ECU. It's got a single black/blue wire going to it, and is located at the back of the head, screwed into the intake side of the opening where the outlet cover that feeds the heater core is. Here is a picture showing its location:

The tach is driven by a yellow / blue wire that comes from position D on the igniter. That same wire also goes to the diagnostic connector. Did you make any changes to the ignition system?

Cheers for that Joe, You were spot on with the water temp issue. now all sorted

The ignition system is all the factory stuff,
I went around to my dads this evening and had a poke around with the ocilloscope and found that my ignitor is not giving an output to the tacho but is firing the coils fine.
I once got the ignitor pretty hot by leaving the ignition on so this may have caused the issue

I will try a new ignitor tomorrow and confirm this.
