Ordered MSPnP!

So I finally ordered a megasquirt and for some reason im really excited haha. I guess its that first big step toward boost :). Is it normal to be this excited about it? lol

More exciting to crank the car up for the first time. Course it's more if you built the MS. Wait till you go boosting. :)

Congrats; a fine purchase.

trying to run the map hose thru the firewall. got the rigged grommet and the hose Tee'd off, but theres a bunch of padding blocking the hole. Is it safe to drill/cut into that foam without hitting wires? Or does someone have a better spot to run the map sensor hose?

GT3man2001 01-20-2009 02:02 PM

The grommet that all the wiring goes through on the passenger side has a little nipple on it. Cut that nipple off. Instant vacuum line hole.

flier129 01-20-2009 03:23 PM

doin this by myself is dumb, going to wait on someone else to feed the hose threw.

I did it.:bigtu: Really not that hard.

Take your glovebox out. Makes it 1000x easier.

yeah i got it finally lol. the right side of the plastic/insulation wouldn't fold over, so running my hand up in there was a bitch.

now im having problems with the com port lol. com3 is the female VGA port, ive tried com1,2,and 4 none of them have worked. read the sticky about comports, guna download the up to date safeware and firmware tomorrow and should have it running.

once you install a serial/usb converter, it should appear as a certain com designation in device manager. If you need any help getting your ms set up, I'd be glad to give you a hand.

says its com1 in device manager and i've tried that :(. i appreciate the offer but your out in nashville, so no worries.

You're using DIYAutotune's USB-Serial adapter, right?

flier129 01-21-2009 01:15 PM

got them communicating finally. did a software update and it worked fine :). loaded the base map for 96-97, didnt start but im 97% sure my battery is just dead, charging it then trying again.

but for reference, im running a 2000 head, 2000 intake manifold, simple ddm works intake, stock header, 2.5" test pipe and 2.5" exhaust, stock injectors. the basemap should work fine...... right?

hustler 01-21-2009 01:17 PM

do yourself a favor and cut a big-ass portal down by the trans tunnel and run every wire through it (with a grommet). Thank me later.

I had issues with killing my battery while I was setting mine up too.

But yes, the basemap should be fine, but a wideband should be your next investment.

whoops, need to update my location. I go to UTK, so I'm in knoxville most of the time :)

Edit: gonna have to agree with hustler. I drilled a new hole lower in my firewall close to the transmission tunnel because I had to run new MAP, IAT, and TPS lines. It makes things a ton easier to put it in a spot thats easily accessible while you're messing with your wiring.

haha, yeah ill have to do that soon.

got it running, waiting on my friend with the timing gun to double check timing, its reading 4.3 afr at idle but when i give it gas itll go up to 13.5-14.3 is this a major concern?

I'm sure you mean 14.3 because you went into the MS configurator and set it up for whatever wideband you're running, after you configured the output to report 0-5:10-20...which can't read any leaner than 10.0:1. ;)

oh damn, ill have to have look over my install of MS sometime then.

flier129 01-21-2009 07:22 PM

got it installed, base timing done. it runs SOOO much better now, ill have to record a log and post it up so you guys could see if anything dumb is happening.

what other simple things should i adjust with it? i calibrated the tps.... it idles kinda high, 1200rpm and thats after i turned the idle-screw all the way over.

N3v 01-21-2009 08:20 PM

1200rpm huh? thats a little high. how many kPa are you pulling at idle?
