PCB V2.2 vs V3.0

I want to order a kit so I can start assembly of my MS and I cant decide which to get. What is the difference between these two and is it worth the 60 dollar price difference?

I also want to get a stim so I can build and test at the same time so it would easily fall into that money saved.

You don't need the V3.0 board. It has built in flyback so you can run lowz injectors, i think it has a couple more I/Os but outside of that the V2.2 does all the same things that you will want. Fuel/ignition, EBC, launch, all that.

Wonderful. I plan on sticking with High impedance so it wont be an issue. Gonna order it now.

Saml01 10-24-2007 03:04 PM

Damn, seems to be a lot of other improvements. http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/pcb.htm .

V2.2 is simpler to assemble then V3.0 it looks like because it has less components when you look at the pictures of the board layout.

cjernigan 10-24-2007 03:07 PM

I know people that run the V2.2 without any problems. I personally use v3.0 because it's a better board, i don't like limitations, with the 3.0 you don't have any.

Eh fuck it, whats an extra 60 bucks. Im not gonna pull my hair out later over something minor. If im gonna do this shit then im gonna do it all the way and not half assed.

cjernigan 10-24-2007 03:26 PM

Do it once, do it right.

shit... if you think about it that way then get the sweet ass 3.57 board. If they sold that one as a kit I'd upgrade (I've got lots of experience soldering micro SMDs so no big worry there).

Because thats like 350 bucks. Id like to stay reasonable here. Plus id like to keep myself occupied with something.

Oh shit. I forgot to order the miata specific components from DIYAutotune.
To top that off I cant remember where to find the modification on their site. Anyone?

Also, how do I control spark on the miata with this MS? I am reading the megamanual and that seems to be a feature of the MS2 or requires the new daughter board on MS1 or can I do without it if im only aiming for 200hp?

Braineack 10-26-2007 09:51 AM

if you remind me tonight, ill send exactly what you need to make it work.

the miata specific install is on their site.

what did you order and what did you forget?

I ordered the 3.0PCB kit and a Stim. I forgot the kit with like 3 resistors to make the miata specific modification.

That be great if you could send me that info.

edit: Do I need a TPS or can I do without that? lol, its a good thing I am reading the manual now ;)

you can pick up those resistors anywhere. just a few3 .7K and 1K iirc. or call them up and have them drop them in an envelope.

what about a db37 harness and/or boomslangage?

Yea, I can stop by a radio shack and pick em up, thats no biggie.

DB37 harness I figure im going to make myself, but i'll see what happens after I put the MS together. If I am going to want to shoot myself in the foot by the end I may just buy it. I havent decided with the boomslang yet, figure ill get that after I finish assembly as well.

Saml01 10-26-2007 11:58 AM

Found it.
http://diyautotune.com/tech_articles...azda_miata.htm

Had to use google though, I couldnt find the link through the site.

$1.60 - :sadwavey: the jew inside me feels cheated.

Braineack 10-26-2007 12:06 PM

you should just place another order for the $12 roll of 18" of the db37 harness wire and that pull-up kit.

Are you getting a commission from Jerry? With all the business you bring him I figure he owes you something ;)

---

Guess ill order it so I don't have to dick around with the car wiring later.

Does the pull up kit include the resistors for spark mod?

edit: the shipping for the harness wire and the resistors is 7.10, :( damnit. It weighs nothing and can fit into a priority flat rate box.

Braineack 10-26-2007 01:02 PM

no i dont get commission ( i do however get their help whenever possible). id call them up and ask about the shipping.

Saml01 10-26-2007 01:07 PM

Yea. Grr, kicking myself in the ass now. Though I wonder why I don't just make the cable using my own wires. I was planning to use some fat gauge wire for it as well. The labeling would be somewhat difficult but not a huge effort for me.

Braineack do you always use their cables to make your harness?

Btw, if I was to make my own boomslang, where would I buy the plugs?

edit: From a business analysis standpoint they should give you a referral code that you can give to people, or at least a forum referral code so they know where most of their business originates.

Braineack 10-26-2007 01:09 PM

then cancel the order ;)

i just find it extremely easy to use their colors and labels, since I'm completely a visual learner, the diagram i use only shows the colors and what spot to stick um. :bigtu:

you can buy the boomslang stuff at onlinecomponents.com I can get you the part numbers. total will be around $20 for the parts, however there's a $30 minimum plus shipping :(

you'll also need about 55-60' of 18awg stranded wire plus about 2-3 hours of time. :vash:
