-----Would it help the windows situation (running both, NOTH deleting osx) if I had a NEWER mac?? My wife has a macbook (intel core 2 duo/os 10.4.9)...

BUT it'd have to be done in a way where it doesnt affect her in any way, just sortve adding a feature to it... Otherwise she'll never go for it, she idolizes this damn thing...

All this discussion and you have a macbook right there waiting for you.
You have a few options with that one. You can install Parallels or VMware and install windows that way. Or you can install windows via bootcamp. I run parallels, couple guys use vmware, i've never used vmware or bootcamp myself.
Bootcamp is part of the operating system on yours wifes macbook. Her intel based laptop will run windows, easily. It's actually what i use daily, as well as tuning.

I apparently dont have all the prerequesites, and cant just d-load them from apple if u catch my drift...

Really bummed now, thought Id have the best of both worlds...Mac for personal, PC for tuning....but now it looks like I may end up with neither....

well its good that you have the MacBOok accessible now, because installing megatunix is a pain in the ***.

lol, I was trying to use the powerbook so as not to be messing with the wifes laptop....but seeing as how its almost impossible, i'm gonna try this...

I think bootcamp may be the best option, this way she cant accidentally delete/change/etc anything with my tuning, and i dont delete/change/etc any of her stuff...

Her bootcamp "beta" says its expired????
Y are these macs so complicated....

Well wifey wasn't to happy bout me using her precious Mac to tune my car...But was less happy about me buying another laptop, so I guess we'll see what can be done...

Gonna talk to some people and see if I can get something on the cheap, and if not will have to work somethign out w/ the wife..

Also, this might be the best thign anyway...I doubt "borrowing" the wife's Mac to tune the car would be too productive...

Default I Think I Got It!!!!

Possible solution found!

My friend is giving me her Mac install discs (Tiger). From what I can tell, this should at least allow me to properly install Megatunix no???
I imagine now that I have all the original software, I can download & install all the things needed to get Megatunix going...

I didnt have X11, and I couldnt get Xcode2.5(2.4 is no longer there) installed because I believe it doesnt work with anything older than Tiger (10.4).

Someone with more knowledge please guide me if I'm wrong..
Basically, I'm going to delete the current OSX (10.3.9) or replace it with Tiger. This should already have X11 installed, and will also meet my requirements to get Xcode installed. Then install Darwinports (already did that, but will have to redo), then Megatunix...
Along the way a bunch of command line stuff which I guess is Mac's version of DOS?

Anyway, someone please tell me my plan should work...Or please tell me what the flaw is and possible solution....Thanks!

True...thanx
Should have the discs here real soon, so def trying 2 do this tonight

Couple questions that might speed things up...

When I go to install the new OS, will it automatically delete/replace the current one or do I have to figure out how to delete the current one 1st??

Anything I should know about before attempting this? (possible issues)
Remember i cant exactly call apple tech support

I gotta save up and get me a nice macbook like the wife...or wait till another "pops up"....the more i use it the cooler things I find...
This thing goes from OFF to open web browser in like 20seconds!

Just boot from the CD and then reformat the harddrive and install the OS.

i hope you have a serial code, i believe if its the tiger CD that came with your friends computer it will not work. But i herd some how he can burn his copy of tiger off his computer and you can install it that way.

But if its tiger that he bought to upgrade from an older version i dont see any issues. If i am wrong please let me know because i would love to upgrade my mac to tiger.

Wow...thats pretty much what i just encountered...hope u guys can get me thru this one...

It read the disk fine, and it prompts u as the "next step" to turn off and reboot. When it comes back on, it has all kinds of errors on the screen and u cant do anythign but restart....if I eject the disk, all boots up as original...

It IS the desk she got with her laptop (not upgrade)
What serial code??? I can ask for for info if it will work... If u mean serial code as in proof I purchased it just now from a store...then no...Please lemme know asap guys!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/Fujitsu-Stylisti...QQcmdZViewItem

Has a USB port. Problem solved, pretty cheap.

Its not the fastest, but it'd run just fine. Might need a tick more memory.

PIII 400mhz 64mb ram 6gig hdd.. Don't honestly really need much more.
