Default Megasquirt pooped. Suggestions?

There's another thread on MT which I started a week ago detailing the failure my car had at the track (and first of all thank you to all who helped me on that quest in that thread) and wherein I replaced/swapped parts until, long story short, I found that my injectors 2 & 4 are not working, and that the cause is my Megasquirt (I swapped my OEM ECU back in and it runs great).

I reloaded the firmware and there was no change.

Now, I've got a 90-93 MSPNP. I've sent an email to DIYAutotune but haven't recieved an email yet since it's the weekend and I'm looking for input from you guys on where I should go from here. First of all, has anyone heard of DIYAutotune having any warranties? I purchased it in the middle of 2008, so it's been a while but on the other hand I would expect an ECU to last more than 3 years...

My first inclination is to just send it to them and have them examine it and hopefully they can repair it. Does anyone think I should do otherwise or do anything prior to sending it to them? Should I take the cover off and visually inspect it to see if there is any visible physical damage?

What are your thoughts?

-Ryan

I'll assume you mean MSPNP and not DIYPNP.

Someone with more knowledge than I will chime in shortly to tell you how many injector drivers are standard on an MSPNP board. If it's more than 2, you can just switch the 2/4 injector wire over to another driver. If it's just 2, then you have to get it repaired, which still isn't a big deal.

I think you should figure out what's wrong with it and get DIY to mail you the parts and solder it back to happiness yourself.

**** happens, don't over-react. In the end you will take the good with the bad and realized you learned something out of this ordeal.

Got your email. Thanks for including your order number. For clarity, let's first confirm that you have an MSPNP, a very different creature than the DIYPNP.

That aside, you also indicated in your email that you didn't know what firmware to load, or where to get it. Let's start with this. The firmware would already be on your laptop in the C/ProgramFiles/MegaSquirt folder. Choose 90-93 and then WITH or WITHOUT AFM per your setup. You will need to run the "download MS firmware.bat" file inside the folder that is correct for your application.

Once that completes, *do not* install your previous tune file. Instead, download the basemap needed for your setup off our website and load it in:
http://www.megasquirtpnp.com/mspnp_downloads.htm

Make sure you remove the ST SIG fuse from your car before installing the MSPNP back into your car. And if you've got larger than stock injectors, get that set up before trying to crank. If the car starts, then verify timing.

Corrupt MS1 firmware can shut down one of the injector channels. There are also settings that could shut off one of the injector channels. If you had some sort of software/firmware problem, and then you loaded your previous tune back in after firmware you would have brought the problem back. It is much more likely that you have a software problem than one in hardware.

Edited the first post for accuracy. Right, I have a MSPNP, thanks for setting that straight.

Ben - thanks for the response here. After sending you the email, I found directions through searching MT for reloading the firmware using the .bat file so I did that. BUT, instead of loading a base MSQ afterwards, I reloaded my previous MSQ. So, I'll go about the process once more but use a base MSQ afterwards.

I will report back shortly.

Reloaded the firmware. Loaded the base MSQ, set the Required fuel for the NB injectors that are in there. No improvement.

Ben - let me know here, or send me an email about what you'd like me to do please.
