Question on MLV

The documentation at the MLV website and the MS-Extra website seem to conflict each other.

MLV says dont turn off either EGO or accel. MS-Extra says turn off only accel.

Which one do I believe?

Also, if the EGO is supposed to be on, can anyone help with the settings for LC-1 default (7.35-21.99)?

Try both and see what you like more. Technically you're not supposed to tune Accel until your fuel/spark is tuned right, so says Jerry. I personally tuned accell close enough and then left it active to tune the fuel map. Turning off EGO will make tuning by hand easier but MLV should take EGO into account and make adjustments accordingly.
Basically it's what you prefer because everyone has their own opinion and the same thing doesn't seem to work for two people and two different cars.

Well for one, for my first few runs I turned off both accel and EGO. And used MLV to tune to a target AFR. The car was running quite well using the map that MLV generated. Then I turned accel on, and the behavior has changed completely. The car now feels "soft" up top. I havent looked at the AFR yet but from my carb tuning days I know its quite rich.

Ah well, I think MLV can only get me so close, I guess I would have to hand-tune the few remaining cells.

MLV can make things choppy. Back when MLV kind of worked for me I would let it adjust the cells then I would smooth them by hand. I bet your accel value are a little richer than they should be if that's the case. You might want to make it so EGO doesn't make as many corrections as well, set it up so that EGO is "slower".

I agree with cjernigan about leaving accel on mildly. You shouldnt try to adjust it much until your tune is good, but having it on (not rpm mode) shouldn't hurt steady state flows much as they will be mostly unaffected. I think EGO should be off though.

General rule of thumb : Get a basic plain tune happening well, and then start adding "toys" like EGO etc.

Anyone used VexME on here? It looks like its better for offline tuning than MLV. I mean, you have a 12x12 target AFR table instead of a 8x8. Plus it interfaces with the datalog as well just like MLV does.
