Questions about this piece on the 1.6 intake manifold
 

I know this little thing in the picture below is some kind of valve that has coolant running through it so that when the engine is cold the idle is raised and when the engine is warm, idle is lowered. Megasquirt can do that on its own, and I want to delete my thermostat neck with the FM coolant reroute so I have a few questions

1. What is the thing actually called specifically?
2. Can I get rid of it and just have cold/warm idle done by MS?
3. Does anyone sell a little blockoff plate for the manifold for when it's gone?

My apologies for asking so many newb questions recently, but I'm getting so close to boost and I can't wait until I can get this thing to a tuner
