Quick MS-I on 99 Question

If I were to use a MS-I on a 99 and weld the two lumps together on the cam ( so the output looks like 90-97) and use the factory crank angle sensor does the crank angle plate need to be 90-90-90-90 or will the factory plate work?

Not sure specifically about the MS-I, but AbeFM has his '99 running on the stock, unmodified crank and cam sensors with his MS-II. He really needs to post a FAQ on that...

If my understanding of the wheel decoder is correct, doing this with a welded-up CMP (to simulate an even-toothed crank wheel) could probably be accomplished by cutting off the two oddly-spaced teeth on the wheel, and treating the system like it was an NA 4/2 wheel.

The only reason I'm welding it is to see if the OEM ECU will accept this signal so I can still pass ODB-II plug in test.

Could you JB weld a metal piece on there just to test your theory instead of welding it thus permanently modifying it.

y8s said something about building a flip-flop circuit to ignore the unwanted pulse in my seq. COP thread. You could try that instead of modifying your cam sensor?

I was thinking about that, actually JB weld has iron filings in it that might be enough to keep the signal from going low.

The question that remains is does the crank notches need to be every 90 or does the OEM plate work.
