Racepak. It works yall.

After several years of working with Racepak, I'm finally able to announce true, proper, real mutual cross-compatibility between MS2/MS3 and Racepak display and datalogger devices.

This is what is required:
MS2 running MS2/Extra firmware 3.4.x or newer
or
MS3 running MS3 1.4.x firmware or newer
and
MegaSquirt to Racepak CAN Interface Module:
230-VM-EFIMSCAN

This CAN module supersedes Racepak's prior serial interface for MS2. This allows compatibility with any Racepak dash/datalogger system; IQ3, G2X, G2X Pro, V300, Sportsman, UDX, etc

The EFI Interface Module is priced at $375, like most of Racepak's other Interface Modules. Questions? Let me know, I coded the thing. ;)

F*** YEAH! Thanks guys for getting this tested and working!

That is fantastic. What are you planning on doing for speed (MPH or KPH)?

I think most people will use Racepak's GPS for VSS. The other option is MS3 can broadcast VSS to the Racepak network, assuming you have VSS going to the MS3. If you look at the video in the original post, the gauge on the bottom right is labelled "MPH" and is displaying a simulated VSS signal from the MS3-Pro. You can edit the gauge labels in Racepak's software if desired.

Also, I concede that my video sucks. We'll do a more proper one later.

VSS fed from an MS3 is going to be more robust than GPS-based VSS. Occasionally my Racepak will struggle to find satellite signal for the first minute or two, and that would be annoying in a street car. If you have the option, use the VSS provided by the MS3.

Ben, where can I purchase this module? I don't see it online and guessing it is very new and most site will not be updating their database.

I might have 1 or 2 on the shelf -- websales@diyautotune.com if you want to claim one. We became a full line Racepak dealer with this initiative, but it looks like we're not adding new products to our current website as our efforts are focused on migrating to an all new website.

I can get them on the site a bit sooner - but we're going to have a pro photographer get some pictures of them, so I'm waiting on that to get the Racepak stuff listed. But as Ben noted, email us at websales@diyautotune.com if you want one right now.

I'll send you guys an email. Thanks Matt and Ben!

Do you know if this compatibility includes the MS Labs MS3's as well or just diyautotune MS3's?

I ask because if I remember correctly, Rev's firmware is different from the standard firmware.

Revs firmware on MS3 is identical, all his 'basic' line uses the stock MegaSquirt code. It's the 'Enhanced' line which uses modified code.

That said these devices communicate via CAN so would be unaffected anyway.
