Ran out of input/outputs for MS
 

What are you guys doing for inputs and outputs in ms. Two of the IAC pins are taken up using the DIYautotune mods for spark. One of them I wired up for EBC. Now I'm trying to mod it for spark and launch control but i need one more pin. I guess I could just drill a hole and run a wire out of the case but that is ghetto. Or I could make a whole in the end plate and mount a DB9 connector next to the DB37 one just for extra I/Os.
What are you guys doing that are non- MSPNP.

What about pins 1-6 on the DB-37 connector, can I just run my I/Os to those for these mods or are they all grounds?

On the V3 board there are 4 for the IAC stepper motor, 2 for CAN I/O, 1 for external baro, and one for knock. Are you using all 8? Are you letting the stock ECU handle idle control? if so you could use that pin by removing D8 and Q4 but that's a little disparate.

Truthfully i only knew about the 4 for the IAC stepper. Looks like i need to dig in the manual a bit more.
Yet again, you help me out, back to the books.

i think there's like 4 more outputs around the processor... It's been forever since I've looked at the megamanual, so i'm not sure.

I'm trying to find the actual pinouts on DB-37 connector that i need to hook them up to. I know what JS I/O to use, just don't know how to hook it up to the DB-37. Thus my return to the manual, it's just not blatantly in my face.

The 4 spare outputs by the map sensor. I think they are pins 3-6

Found what I needed.
Quoting the megamanual, "
The V3.0 PCB has 4 spare connectors (SPR1 to 4) these can be used for various inputs and outputs for the following circuits as they are conveniently available on the 37pin DB connector:

SPR1 = Pin3 of 37pin db

SPR2 = Pin4 of 37pin db

SPR3 = Pin5 of 37pin db

SPR4 = Pin6 of 37pin db"

Now i just have to figure out how to connect the two traces. One is under the MS chip on the bottom, the other is under the Map sensor on the bottom. Guess i could run them to the proto area and connect them there. That or use some small wire under the processor socket.

Luckily for me the map daddy is not in the way :)

I need to order one of them, knew I should have done that last week. Might as well do it right this time around. Shit. Can't bring myself to spend the money. hahaha
Oh well, i'll do it the ghetto way for now I suppose.

if you do it right, running a wire through a hole in the case does not necessarially have to be ghetto. I would suggest a little grommet that keeps the wires from rubbing through the insulation and some way to lock the wire so that if its pulled, the load is put upon the case rather than a solder joint.

It appears I have four more I/Os to use at a minimum, but they are hidden under the MAP sensor which sucks. Makes me wish i had a mapdaddy 4 bar. Looks like running a wire to the pro area and another to the other trace will work fine though. I like the idea of doing everything on the same DB37 connector.

Do you have a 3.0 board? I used one of those outputs for my tacho pin, and I just ran a jumper wire on the bottom of the board. The MAP hides the holes from the component side, but you should still be able to get at them from the bottom. Same with the processor output pads.

I joined JS10 & JS11 with SPR4 & 3 in the proto area. It was easy that way.
