Rent A Stim'

I'm planning on building a MS2 this summer and the Stim for testing. Once this is done do you think there would be a "market" for testing/repairing other folk's MS units? Basically if you build your own but down want to spend the time/money on a stim you ship it to me and I test it and fix anything that is pooched for a small fee (like $5 if nothing is wrong, then $10/hour for repairs and mods). Seeing as how I should be able to build a complete one in about 5 hours.... I think $10 is fare. I want this to be more of a service than a money maker... the only reason I'd charge is to justify the time spent and hopefully cover the cost of my unit (eventually).

I worked on development of the motronic ECU in the DI ecotec turbo engines comming out this year.... so I've got a wee bit of soldering/diagnosis experience ;)

Well, if you are building a MS2 your not going to use it on a Miata. Currently only the V3.0 PCB & MS1 ECU works witht the Miata. Unless you run fuel only.

hmmm... that's what I thought. The dude I was talking to yesterday had me convinced that the MS2 would work better. Damn ford people :)

The ford guy was probably assuming you would convert it to EDIS

kingofl337 06-07-2006 02:39 AM

EDIS = Overrated.

possibly... he is a turbo coupe/mustang guy. nice fellow, good friend, his information is not always helpful though. Definately not going EDIS... it's an added and unessesary expense. At the moment I'm trying to decide between neon or dsm coils as I'd like to not fry the stock 1.8 coils (i have a '97)

Definitly use DSM Coils or the 2.7L V6 Intrepid had COP you could run them in waste spark.

Arkmage 06-07-2006 03:21 PM

What's the difference in wiring (MS specifically) for the COP vs. DSM?

kingofl337 06-08-2006 08:58 AM

With the DSM Coils they are waste spark by design. They fire both plugs at once. The COP only fires one plug, you would have to just jumper two coils together to get waste COP.

Leaning towards DSM because the dodge COPs seem to be pricey, even used on ebay!
