Retune after minor intake/head work?
So, soon, i am going to have my car down to put a new clutch in. While i have the car down, i am going to pull my head and polish the combustion chambers, intake ports and intake. Does this mean that i will need to re-tune my fuel map?
Also, i am going to remove the worthless intake manifold brace. If there is anything else i should do while i have the head off, i am looking for suggestions. Pulling the head is something i dont want to do again for a while. Thanks in advance, Wes |
Next time I need to replace my timing belt for any reason I'll probably get at least a Gates timing belt. I'd probably be inclined to want to replace the injectors and/or fuel rail while I was in there, if I already hadn't.
The intake manifold is two bolts and comes off in less than 30 seconds (from sight of bolts to on the fucking ground). You can take it off whenever, when I took mine off I liked the extra room for the oil filter and to recap my old oil drain. :) Vash- |
yes, retune after doing headwork. assuming you improve airflow, you'll result in a leaner mixture since your maps will be squirting the "old" fuel values.

Thats what i was thinking. Since it is speed density, it cant actually measure how much air is flowing, it just calculates how much fuel to squirt based on pressure/temperature.
