Running on Megasquirt....

I'm new to the megasquirt world and trying to get my head around things.

Still having problems sorting my Stack Wideband but thats for another day.

I have a base map from a trusted friend and the car runs fine once warm, however starting the car in the morning for example takes a good few cranks and i have to hold the revs at around 1500rpm for almost a minute otherwise it will stall.

Now he has mentioned that he has not touched any of the settings for startup/warmup, can anyone give me any tips on how to get the car to idle from start up or where i should be looking in Tunerstudio/Megatune?

I'm sure someone mentioned you can add a percentage of fuel below certain temperatures to help start up??

Also other query regards the Diode across the idle valve, it says the banded end of the diode goes to 12v, which is 12v? the blue and white or the red and white (thicker) wire?

Thanks in advance.

PS - I'm running MS1 v3 board in a 92 1.6 Eunos Roadster. NA.

Here's a good place to start:
MegaSquirt Forums

Go into your "Engine Constants" screen under the "Basic Settings" tab and plug in figures for your engine capacity and injector capacity.
It helped me with my difficult cranking issue with my IRTB's.

Make sure you follow the basic steps such as calibrating your TPS.

Thanks for that.

I've set the correct spark settings so all good there.

Do we need to calibrate the tps? I thought we have an on/off type and don't use it with MS? I've disconnected mine as have a couple of my friends..

I'm lost.

On/Off TPSs are just ignored and don't need to be calibrated. Just ground the TPS signal through a 1K resistor.

You must fine tune your car. I just started experimenting with mine so theres no much info I can share at the moment. Although Autotune is a nice feature. Make sure to set your afr targets accordingly. Most importart a base map is just that a BASE this is not a one size fits all, you must tune your MS specifically for you engine.

I would start with diyautotune.com base msq. The msq used for my diypnp started and idled like I had been running the diypnp since day one.

Sorry the map from friend is the diyautotune base map only with correct settings for my injectors.

Matt where does this resistor go? If it's on the board then I must have done that already.

I'm not sure how to set afr tables??

Matt Cramer 11-06-2009 08:49 AM

One end to TPS SIG, one end to ground.

Thanks Matt, will give it a try.

Back to the afr, i'm assuming i need to get the gauges to match in both tunerstudio and Stack wideband before i can start playing around?

I looked at the VE table in TS and it makes no sense at all. The bottom reads RPM and the side reads MAP? Shouldn't it read afr?

Yes.

No; this is a number being plugged into the MegaSquirt fueling equation that is determined by MAP sensor reading and RPM.

Think of AFR as a function of RPM and MAP, AFR (RPM, MAP).. i.e f (x,y).
