Soldering processor direct to the board?
 

Guys I have a similair problem to Baz on here, when the car starts stuttering if i press hard on the processor it kicks back to life, i dont touch anything else.

As soon as I let go the car stutters again.

Its weird because my MS and Harness has recently had a 2.5 hour tuning session on a dyno, 1000 mile drive including a hammering on track and never skipped a beat once.

So is it safe/wise to remove the cradle and solder the processor direct to the board?

All the joints look spot on on the cradle so I'm thinking maybe the pins on the processor are loose in the cradle?

Don't do that.
Just resoldering all pins on the daughterboard and those of the ic socket.
If that doesn't help, are you pusing on the pcb part of the daughterboard or are you pusing directly on the cpu (the chip on the daughterboard)? If you are, chances are there's a bad joint on the chip itself.

take a small screwdriver and run it across all the pins of the cpu so they are pushed into the socket. I do this on every MS-I I build after fitting; I've had a few that failed to turn on until I did this.

Yeeeeeeee don't do that! If you kill the CPU, (more likely if you're soldering directly to it....), it's going to be an absolute BITCH to replace it.

If you're getting bad contacts on the CPU as Brain says bend the pins slightly and also check your soldering on the plug.

Barry's problem is different' though it's on the DB37 not on the CPU?

My mate had an issue with his car randomly dying turned out his rock hard suspension had rattled out the CPU from it's socket, a slight bend of the pins and it's never done it since.
