I never liked TPS based, I've always stuck with map based and tuned it when the car is up to temp. This has worked well for me.

TPS based usual has a lot faster response time.

And response is what's important. The fact that MAP changes is something that happens as a RESULT of what happens when TPS values change is reason enough for me to not want to use it. It's all about that x-tau.

But TPS doesn't kick in when the turbo spools and you're already on 100% TPS. The spool does however cause a change in MAP and that requires a bit of extra fuel. This can only be provided via MAPdot.

Thats what the VE table is for...

Nope. Rise in MAP causes some fuel to condense in the intake runners. This is a transient condition. VE tunes static condition.

aidandj 09-29-2015 05:11 PM

So EAE? Isn't that what is used for transient conditions?

here's something I'd probably start out with (very close to what I had):

bsaed on these setting's AE wont trigger between -90 and 15 %/sec TPSdot.

if you have MAPdot triggering in boost, then your tune sucks.

I could lift and press my pedal in boost and my AFRs would stay rock solid -- cause I tuned EAE very well.

stefanst 09-29-2015 07:16 PM

That's what EAE does- it adds or subtracts fuel in transient conditions.
It estimates how big a "puddle" of fuel will be in the intake area, based on some parameters, the most important of which is MAP. More MAP means bigger puddle. So we need to initially add fuel until MAP stabilizes.

So to me EAE is a better version of MAPdot-based enrichment.

TPSdot, in my understanding, is essentially a predictor of MAPdot and allows the computer to react to increases/decreases in MAP in the near future.

I think if EAE was perfect and instantaneous, no AE would be needed at all.

deezums 09-29-2015 07:25 PM

AE is meant to work together with EAE. EAE will never take a hit like AE can.

Mapdot is fucking useless, at least for me. I haven't bothered with eae because I really only need it to pull fuel on a slight decel, or add a touch on a slight incline if it's under the TPSdot limit.

you can also try X-Tau

I've got AE tuned in pretty well now. I'm still using time based, I can't seem to get my head wrapped around Accel Pump just yet.

I still get a little of stumble, depending on how I stab it, but for the most part, I've got it down like 90% of the way. The few times it does stumble, it's when I'm hitting a throttle that I don't normally hit. So pretty happy about it. Figured I'd just report back in to you guys
