Spoonfeed an eggplant VVT

I cannot seem to get the VVT figured out on my MS3x. The log VVT test shows the VVT angle initialize at 274.8, which is the minimum setting currently in the VVT menu. about 38 seconds into the log, the angle changes to 38 after i advance the cam using the VVT test mode. Returning the VVT1 duty cycle to 0 now causes the angle to change to about 7 degrees. The car never loses sync during any of this. The cam is definitely responding to the changes in duty cycle, I have to keep the revs up when I advance it to keep it from stalling.

The car is a 99 with a 2001 motor swapped in. I built the MS3x using trubokitty and frank's guide. I have not done hardly any tuning to it, The only changes i made from the trubokitty base map was to set the IAC valve range, and set the cam input to normal(changed from inverted).

I would appreciate any ideas/help as to what to try next.

Set min and Max to 0. Use test mode to record min and Max angle. Set min and Max to the recorded angles. Done.

ok,i will give that a try, i was missing the part about setting the min and max angles to 0 before running the test.

Setting the Min and Max angle to 0 before running the test allowed me to get good values.

thanks

Next topic: VEAL

Is there any special settings needed to set up VEAL before you run it? My understanding is that you would set your AFR table, lockout any cells (usually idle) set your filters and drive. I have read that the software is supposedly smart enough to ignore any enrichments or EGO corrections when it makes changed to the VE table, so you can leave those enabled. However, when I run it, all it does is pull fuel in every cell it touches, to the point where the AFR is in the 18's. I will try to post a datalog later when I get back from work.

If I take a log and VE analyze in MLV, It seems to actually work and gets me pretty close to my target AFRs. Not sure if there is something glaringly obvious I am missing.

Post log, tune, screenshot of veal settings.
