Start-up enrichment

Anyone have any theories on this? It seems to work OK in +45 degrees but it's a real pain on cold mornings. My warm up enrichment for normal driving is good; I don't get bogging on acceleration. It's just the 2 seconds after cranking that's not right.

BTW, I still have my stock ECU handling spark and idle. Spark by year-end was a major goal but it didn't happen. :crx:

Alright, I searched on "cranking" and got a lot more info. The search button my be my friend but it can't help much if I too stupid to work it.

Still, If anyone has any brillant info, feel free to share.

Your cranking settings control the amount of fuel going into the engine to get it started. After that the ASE settings take over.

If your problem is two seconds after it starts then it will be your ASE table that needs modifying. A basic start to the table is about 40% at the lowest temp and then straight line interpolate the settings down to 0% at the highest temp.

Thanks.

I had ASE on two-point instead of table. I switched to table and used your numbers (in the "setting" thread) and it's working fine now.

Not that it's important anymore but I'm still not sure how two point works. If it doesn't reference a table then what temperature is it using?

is there a guide on how to do this?

Which bit?

The interloping? Open up Excel and put in the lowest temp (from the table) and next to it do the 40(%). Then in the cell below the lowest temp (from the table) put in your highest temp. Then in the cell next to that put in 0(%). Then click on Tools, then Data Analysis, then Regression. Input your %'s as y, then input your temps as x and do the regression analysis.

You then want the Intercept coefficient and the X Variable 1 coefficient and put them into the equation y = mx + c where c is the Intercept coefficient and m is the X Variable 1.

Then set up a section of the Excel worksheet that has all of your temps from the ASE table and next to it type the formula above with the links to the coefficients. Copy the formula all the way down your temp figures and you will have a straight line interpolation of the ASE figures from the lowest to the highest temps.

I guess it shows that I'm a math teacher.....

Or you could do it the easy way and use the table in the Settings sticky as your starting point and then fine tune it from there.

oh my god.

I took quantitative methods like 3 years ago, and quickly forgot how to do that crap in excel. Do you have to do alot of shit like this with ms? Maybe its not for me.

No mate, you don't have to do anything like that unless you really want to.

Now that Megasquirt is becoming mainstream everything is pretty easy. The install and board mods are all documented and the .msq's and other settings are pretty well developed. Hell you can even buy a fully modded and working unit from kingofl33t.

+1 for bastardising.

I had a basic option wrong or the "settings" sticky thread would have made more sense in the first place. Once I figured that out I just lifted Aussie Driver's values exactly and it worked perfectly the first time. Well, I did have to convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit but that was simple enough.
