I don't think it's flooded. If anything there is not enough fuel. All of the cranking prime tables read 1ms for all temps.

I know I am butchering the description but push back refers to what sounds like excessive cold advance timing. When it's trying to catch it fights the starter.

I had this "push back" too.
My car equires you to give 1-3% TP so it properly revs up and stays alive. Also idles rich on colt start.

I also hate that after MAT goes over 80 idle becomes lean (15-16)

I'm not corn fed though :/

I never thought to look at the WB. I will check it next time.

Here are screen grabs of what I have to work with.

tune your cranking idle valve pw
tune your warmup enrichments
tune your mat enrichment table (or air density table depending on what firmware you're using)

wire it into direct current for start-up/cranking
its the only way.

Thanks, I'll give the PW a try, I still have to try the "idle valve test" last I tried it didnt do anything.

I've been messing with MAT correction if that's what your talking about?

Re-read this thread. Actually do all these things lol.

1 thing I learn` over and over again when tuning MS:
You can't just jump around and tune random crap or "mess" with it. At least it never worked for me. You eliminate all variables, and go step by step.

anyone have any luck with this yet? I too have a 1.6 with ID1000's on E85 and am fighting the cold start. If i crank for a while and give it some throttle, it'll eventually go. Feel like i have tweaked most everything in my MSPNP2 from cranking, priming, warmup E, etc. Any advise or working table values would be a huge help....

Mine is decent now. If you're having to give it throttle then you need to increase your iacv at cranking and add more cranking fuel

Another thing I'm gradually learning is that "extremes" suck. Meaning if you go from too lean to too rich it will be just as rough and inconsistent. It has to be "just right".

Sorry to bring this up, but did you ever try and use the blended cranking curves? I wonder if this makes the E85 startup a bit better?

Nope, not yet. Basically I stopped messing with it a couple weeks ago due to installing this new engine. It starts and runs great with the only exception being when it sits overnight and is dead cold (and its super cold outside). Then it takes 2 tries, but on the 2nd one it fires right up. No matter what I have tried so far, I can't change it for some reason.

I'll definitely check out blended
