Super noob, need help identifying what I have.

I picked up two megasquirt II boxes. I have the most confidence in this one, could you all be so gracious and let me know what I am working with and if there is anything glaringly wrong here. What are the little prototype boards for? The jumpers? Would it hurt to just download the software and plug it in to my computer?

Thanks.

This wasn't built for a miata i suspect?

the red/blue wires going to the additional breadboard are for some sort of idle controller.

not sure what the green/blue/red coming off the same are for, or if part of the same circuit. It looks to go into more circuuitry in the proto area.

the yellow/green/black paring is a for the micro USB port.

the two transistors bolted to the top of the case im clueless, they appear to go back through circuitry and then into JS11...so could be anything but most likely generic outputs, like fan control through a TIP120 im guessing?

the bottom circuit on the proto looks to be maybe a second opto circuit? is the black component label 42G5 or something like that?

I do not believe so, but it was used on a BP 1.8 in a 323. Im hoping to get some advice on what looks good and what looks bad. I don't have a car to install it on yet but I'd like to work on the megasquirt part of the project during the cold wet months ahead.

That makes sense since the "harness" that came with had wires for the DB9 connector and it appears to feed that connection some sort of signal from each transistor.

the black component is labeled: JR79AC
LF
412CN

Would there be any harm in downloading the software and plugging this into my computer? Will I be able to troubleshoot anything that way (assuming there are existing problems)? Should I build a stim board or just start fresh?

Thank you!
