Supercharged MS2 update - car won't start without laptop plugged in.
Thanks to some much needed encouragement, I now have my supercharger rebuilt and put back together.
It's actually starting and running really well. I thought I had the project buttoned up so I unplugged the laptop and put it away. They realized that the car will only start if the laptop is plugged in. I have the usb adapter from diyautotune connected as shown on their website. It attaches to 5V, ground and TX, RX. I have the Joe spark setup, so I figured maybe the usb was supplying 5V to the board. I checked 5v and 12v with and without usb, no difference. I wondered if it wasn't getting any fuel, so I checked the fuel pump which is fine. Does anyone have any ideas. In my searching of the web, msextra and miataturbo I found one hit on msextra of a guy with the same problem. Unfortunately it didn't show any resolution. Help would be much appreciated. Thanks |

Thanks Check MS extra. Thread that was regarding that USB converter. IIRC, you need a transistor somewhere between the pins on USB converter. |
