Default Building an MS2 for 1.6, now input circuit question

Hi Guys,

I've started building my MS2 following this HowTo :
http://miataturbo.wikidot.com/ms2-a

But in this tutorial i don't see any mod that triggers the 1.6 fuel pump, I found it in the MS1 mods section on the wiki :
http://miataturbo.wikidot.com/ms-mods

Can you confirm that I have to make this mod on my MS2, I don't think there is a difference here between MS1 and MS2 but before making a big mistake, it's better that I ask you !

Thanks!

just take fp control on a toggle switch from the afm wiring simple effective and no soldering required..

Yeah, that circuit will do. Of course, internally you'll connect it to the FP pin, rather than whatever pin would be assigned to VTEC.

As to MS1 vs. MS2, it's important to remember that the only real difference is the software. Yeah, it's a different CPU class, and some of the nitty-gritty details vary, but when it comes to external I/O (stuff that physically connects to the car) it doesn't really matter which CPU you're running, the basic circuits are the same.

The ONLY differences you're likely to run into have to do with which functions connect to which pins. IOW, certain pins on the CPU can only drive certain functions. Some of these limitations ave to do with the internal architecture of the CPU, others, so far as I can tell, are purely arbitrary. And then, to make matters worse, there are at least four different ways of describing a pin- by a position on the DB37, by a CPU pin number, by an internal pad 2.2 style, or by an internal pad 3.0 style.

So, for instance, JS0, X2, and U11 pin 38 all mean exactly the same thing. But if you're reading a piece of documentation written by someone with a Rev 2.2 board, and you have a 3.0, you may go nuts looking for "X7" or "JP1-4", when in reality, you need JS5 or JS11.

I think I'm rambling at this point. Rum, combined with the vapors produced by using antimicrobal cleaners in an unventilated area have this effect on me.

with the switch on the pins the AFM used to use, how are you suppose to work that exactly?

Currently my crap has no mods to the FP, I just straight wired to the fp wire on the ecu connector and haven't done any mods, still running the old afm inplace till I get my stuff running.

No you spice into the wires they used and then mount the swith somewhere in the cab. Bonus no one can steal your car with out the fuel pump being on and well it is conveneint to say the least to be able to power **** on and have a choice on FP or no FP at the flick of a switch.

Hi!

Still building my MS2, i'm now on the "Input section construction & testing" part of the manual on megamanual.
Until there all steps & tests using the stimulator are OK.

Now if done the input section but I have more question :

1) Do I have to jumper D1 & D2 ? megamanual says Yes, the MS1 tutorial sais Yes, but in the MS2 tutorial on the wiki there is nothing for D1 & D2, so I don't know.
For the moment, I don't have put a jumper.

2) Do I have to jump the tach signal as is it wrote on the megamanual (Jump XG1 to XG2, OPTOIN to TACHSELECT and TSEL to OPTOOUT) or do I have to do it like the MS2 tutorial says ? (jump Tachsel to XG1 and TSEL to OPTOUT)
For the moment, I have done like it's written in the wiki.

I'm asking these question because when I try to test in megatune with the stimulator, only the MAP sensor is giving a good value (something like 100Kpa), all the pots on the stim does not affect the values in megatune (TPS, O2, tach nothing is moving). The RPM in megatune is always switching from 0 RPM to 8000 RPM.

Maybe it's normal, I've read that once you're starting in miata specific mods the stimulator becomes unusable.

Thanks for your answers !

the regualr stim is fail. the old stim should still give all signals but the rpm.
