Timing Light Recommendation?

Trying to wade through getting my MS3/3X to start. First decent day in a long while. First, blew a 25A fuse. Found out a relay was mis-wired.

I do have spark, ran the ignition coil test. Can hear the spark snapping. Moves from coil to coil in the proper sequence. Pretty sure the fuel is ok. I can smell it in the exhaust if the injectors are hooked up.

On to checking base timing. My timing light decides to expire. :crx:

Got a recommendation for a timing light that works (doesn't suk) ? I don't think I need anything fancy, do I? I'd like to order one tonight, or find something decent locally. The last light lasted quite a long time, so I guess I don't have to go ultracheap.

Thanks

I would think some of the parts stores would have loaners. Can't get much cheaper than that.

For setting MS initial timing, the most basic model will do. You don't need the kind where you dial in an advance (that's more for conventional guys that are recurving distributors).

Thanks for the loaner idea. However, I'd like to replace my dead unit.

I'll drop by wallyworld on the way into work tomorrow. Maybe they have something good enough.

harbor freight sells a really cheap timing light. there are a few around NH. $12.99 or something like that. worked fine when I set my base timing
