timing map out of synch

Hello all, hoping for any insight on problem with timing on Ms2pnp. The vehicle is a 1996 Miata that has an NB1 engine with original CAS sensor from NA installed in NB engine. After setting base timing at 10 BTDC and switching to timing map, which

is set at 16 BTDC at idle no load,my timing light shows 22 BTDC. As I increase rpm's the timing does not track with the timing map. At 3500 rpm the actual timing is 48 BTDC, although the map shows it at 32 BTDC. Any thoughts would be

appreciated, as I'm a novice at Megasquirt tuning and don't want to damage new build! Cheers

I would start by locking the timing back to 10, confirming it is set properly, then revving it up ~3000RPM and see if the timing stays solid @ 10BTDC. If you see it moving around with rev's, try switching the "Ignition Input Capture" Falling / rising edge setting. Reset base timing and repeat test. Report back on findings.

Thanks for the response, bone head move on my part. The inductive advance timing light I was using was doubling the specs on the timing. All is well!
