TPS: do I not know what I'm missing?

I'm about to go home for the weekend to finish up a few things on my car and I was thinking about sending my MSpnp back to DIY for the TPS mod and MAPdaddy.

I have the car tuned really, really well. Will the TPS mod really make the car run better, because I can't imagine it getting much better than it is currently.

the MS by default is ready to accept a TPS signal, but you have to provide it. Maybe you should read Ben's MSPNP FAQ post?

You're missing out on TPS, and water injection :fawk:

I'm seriously about to do this mod, but would also like to hear more on what I'm missing. I know that with Power Commanders on bikes it was nice tuning using RPM and TP, as some roll-on problems can be hard to track just using MAP.

I know this and I've read the FAQ.
1) I can't imagine drivability better than it is currently
2) I don't feel like learning to solder a pcb on a $700 piece of equipment

Is it reasonable to believe my car may be tuned better than most on here without the TPS? I'd rather not mail it back since I'm getting close to my first track event, and worry about it getting lost, stolen, fucked up, or some general problem.

Please read the question rather than berate me like a thai-tranny hooker. I may be dressed as a woman, "but I fuck you like man."

actually, i forgot you had to modify the PCB :P

The variable TPS is mostly just used for the idle control; it kicks up the IAC opening when the throttle snaps closed. It is used a little bit with the boost control, but that works OK without it in our experience. If the idle speed is OK you may not gain much.

Smoother accel enrichments for sure. I hadn't tuned my mapdot accel at all but the first drive with tpsdot accel showed perfectly smooth response rolling on the throttle at any rpm.

My idle is still shit even with the TPS, though it never droops or stalls anymore. Just idles at 1300 all the time.

Do you ever want to use EBC?

hustler 03-27-2009 01:24 PM

nope, no desire to you use EBC. My enrichments are pretty much spot on too...well, as good as they can be apparently. I have no issues now, but TPS drivability is an unknown unknown.

The only thing left to do with tuning that I'm not happy with is cleaning up the off-boost fuel and spark tables a little bit. I guess I'll just leave it for now.

Yea, if your drivability is really as good as you say it is, I wouldn't worry about the TPS until you find a reason to worry about it in the future.

Oh, another thing I noticed was overrun was much much smoother, but again, not sure if thats something you care about.
