TPS wiring

I'm using a Nissan TB with TPS. It is a simple 3wire. I figured out its ground, and got it setup to output a signal to MS. I get a nice TPS reading now.

EXCEPT.
It is only reading 131 (closed) and 228 (open). I calibrate the TPS with those (it asks if I really want them, since it is so far off... I say yes). It then shows as like 40% to 88% throttle, instead of scaling it to 0-100%

Thoughts?

Working on tps/ebc wiring tonight. Out in car... so any help asap is awesome.

Dunno. Someone else posted a very similar thread like this a few days ago. Your 100% sure it's wired up correctly?

If i swap the 2 "power" wires, I get it in reverse. That should be right?....

Signal line is outputing 2.5v to 4.5v (closed/open)
4.9v between gnd and 5v ref line.

I'm using the 18" DIY harness to wire into stock ecu plug setup.
Blue (tps signal) is going to Red in 1N
Grey (vref 5v) is going to light green/white in 2L

Weird. I think the normal is 1-4.5V, that's what I see on most Fords. Still, you should be able to calibrate it in MT and the scaling be right, even if it's 4-4.5 it seems. You had the pedal released, hit calibrate, floored it, hit calibrate?

And what year miata do you have?

patsmx5 04-07-2008 11:06 PM

Will you help me pass Physics II if I help you? :giggle: Crap sucks. Lets see, if I toss a proton with mass m at magnetic field B, with acceleration a, velocity v, what's magnitude and direction of the of the field.....

Hopefully someone that knows MS better than I will chime in.

It's a 93.

I can get it to read linear with the throttle being opened. So I guess the wiring is right. It is just outputting wierd values (instead of 1-4.5ish stuff).

I calibrated, but it still kept showing the skewed values, it didn't "port" them into 0-255

Stab in the dark, but try calibrating it, then saving, then burning, then power cycling MS and removing the serial cable to MS. I've had weird stuff happen or changes not take effect and that solved it.

You nailed it. :)

So now car has working TPS, EBC and clutch switch is bypassed.
Now to do my other ic/rad duct side and figure out how to mount them in place.

GRATZIE! :)

Wow. Damn I'm good.

Now back to your Physics II... e=mc^2 and all that jazz.

patsmx5 04-07-2008 11:57 PM

Oh yea.. I don't mind statics, dynamics, stuff like that. It's this proton/electron/bullshit-tron stuff that sucks. Oh well, guess it's important (Probably not). Still can't believe that's all that was wrong. You could have just gave up and tried again tomorrow and it would have probably worked. And to think of all the times I've read someone couldn't get (insert EBC or something) on their MS to work and now it's all of a sudden working for no reason.

Splitime 04-08-2008 12:17 AM

At this point my adapter harness for the TPS is done, EBC is done. Wiring other than full throttle/water injection/map switching is done. Those can wait :p

Man... i love finishing things.
