understandable explanation of PID parameters?
Hi guys,
as I'd like to test the new MS2 closed loop boost control I need an understandable explanation of the PID parameters. I had a look at wikipedia in English as well as in German - I didn't understand even in German. The last time I had this type of maths was like 10 years ago when studying. So could someone give me an "easy" explanation? Thanks! |
P: a rubberband attached to a point. the further you are from that point, the stronger the rubber band pulls you back to it. Analagous to the spring on your car.
I: a temporal rubber band. the longer it's not centered on the set point, the stronger it gets. in other words, over time, it zeroes in better. D: a shock absorber on your car. it damps the output of the controller as it approaches the set point. too low/soft and you get overshoot (cadillac). too high/hard and the reaction time of the system is sluggish and unstable. |
