Upgrading oem pump.
My oem pump is fucked. In a few weeks i am going to buy mspnp w/ afm delete, some 460's, and of course a new fuel pump/fuel filter to be sure.
I know most people with ms just use the oem pump, but if something fails i usually upgrade. Now to the point. Should i try and source an newer good oem pump, or go ahead and get some kind of Walbro. I assume a 190 would be great, hp model shouldn't be needed for this application correct? thanks. |
get a walbro 190 or 255.

The 255hp will overpower your stock FPR on the fuel rail. The 190hp and 255regular will not but they're overkill. Ther regular 190 is a few bucks cheaper than the hp and is an ideal OEM replacement.
Several of the OFFICIAL VENDORs carry them. |
I just threw the 190hp in there, my oem pump failed about 2k miles after being boosted...Car has 140k miles on it, so dunno if it was only due to boost, only age, or both...

no it wont. i have a 255 in my miata, had one in my probe, and know several other people with different cars with 255's and no-one has higher than stock fuel pressure. i always hear that, but i have never actually seen it ever happen in person.

Have the dremel handy if you're putting a 1.8-style pump in a 1.6 car, there's a little metal funnel on the carrier that needs to be cut off.
