I have tried from 1-30 on the com selection for USB and still get no communication do i realy have to go through all 100 ot find 1 that works? is there a easier way? Did i maybe install it wrong? i followed the instructions for the driver directly off the site. and Adam said it was working prior to shiping it to me so what are my options guys i cant do to much if i cant cummunicate with my ECU.

My laptop chimes indicating something has been connected but it still cant find MS through Megatune.

Arkmage 04-12-2007 08:59 AM

control panel>system>hardware>device manager>ports (COM & LPT)>

see which one is labeled as MS or serial to USB adapter, or whatever... chances are it will be the only one there besides 1 or 2.

magnamx-5 04-12-2007 09:15 AM

Set your spark angle with a timing light before you try and control spark.

You used to be able to get the product form DIY autotune but it appears they removed it from their website.

http://www.dlpdesign.com/usb/txrx.shtml
That is the unit you need to do the mod. I suggest if you plan to do this mod, socketing R232 or whatever chip it is closest to the DB9 Connector.
However the easiest and most pain free USB-DB9 solution will be an external adapter. DIYautotune sells compatible ones. Don't try and buy a cheap one, they can damage the MS I believe.

Yes ADbradley is the frigin man.

We put it back, just with a note not to use it on MS-II's for the time being until we figure out a workaround....

need drivers...see all the question marks...

FoundSoul 05-19-2007 04:02 PM

Looks like you need a driver installed, or really 2 maybe 3 for multiple devices, but just one for the USB adapter. If it's our USB-2920 there was a CD that came with it, or you can right click the 'USB Serial Port' item right there in device manager and let XP update the driver from the internet and it should find it. Then it will display the com port there...

and it still no worky:

I installed the FTDi controller drivers ( http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm ), but still no worky. I'm going to uninstall everything, and reinstall. I ordered the "usb adapter" but didn't get a cd in the package.
