Default Anybody hard cranking w MS3 ?

Occasionally my motor seems to slow down while cranking as if the ignition timing was over advanced.

Just replaced the battery and had the alternator checked out for ripple to see if it had a bad diode - thought it may be cooking the battery but everything's ok.

I tried doing a starter draw but the issue is intermittent.

Have you guys had this issue ?

My starter also squeals a bit right after it turns the motor over, still I'd hate to pull that darn starter if I don't have to.

Thanks

What did you do to make it better ?

Far as starting mine ranges from more cranking than I would like to the point where/when the starter is not able to turn the engine over.
At that point it seems that current drops and the solenoid releases.

Mine isn't as bad as your car is from the sound of your description. My car's little issues mainly show themselves during cold starts. It will crank longer than I think it should to start, and occasionally it will hit a spot that feels like the timing is to far advances. When it does that I let off the key and try again and it will start the way it always does. I haven't played with the settings yet to see what helps/hurts.

Thanks. Mine did not seem bad also but now my starter gear seems to make a squealing noise right after it turns the motor over. I can't imagine that the failed attempts at starting the motor are doing the starter any good.

If I come across any settings that work I will report back.

Sorry but I have no clue what mine is. I have not checked yet.

what should it be set to ?

Is that the point that determines there/when the cranking settings are applied.?

I don't know that there is a number that is right for everyone. My MS3 came set at 300 and I lowered it to 225 and it did seem to help my car some.

Anybody know if the "Compare" function of TS compares cranking settings ?

I lent out my tuning lap top so I can't check that out right now.

Thanks

post a screenshot of your VE table if you'd be so kind.

Also, be sure to put a bucket under the tailpipe to catch the gas pouring out.
