Using the stock 1.6 TPS

I've finally turned to the dark side and installed a DIYPNP in my car. :)

I know that it's not a VTPS, but knowing if it's at WOT would help with launch control. The instructions say to ground the TPS input with a 1k resistor which means the ADC is always going to be reading 0. Could you wire a 5v pull up resistor to TPS and jumper it to 2L (POW) to get a 5V signal at everywhere but WOT? You might even be able to rotate the TPS so it's really a >80%TPS signal.

I've never read about this being done, most people just upgrade to a proper sensor, but LC isn't worth $80 for me.

VTPS isn't just for LC. I see it as a requirement to convert to MS properly, but I guess that's just me. It can also be half that price if you know what your doing.

Oh, I have no doubt that tps enrichment is better than map dot, but the wells sensor and bmw sensor are all pretty pricey. Have a secret source?

I didnt think id need a TPS either.

That quickly changed when i found myself looking through logs not knowing where my pedal position was. Super useful, and i installed it for that reason alone. That said, my AE is now much better dialled too.

I got the sensor from rockauto for like $20 and adapted it myself.

Wells tps201 if i recall

adding a vTPS is an easy mod. you want it for tpsDOT over mapDOT enrichments.

Nice, Just snagged the second to last one for $20 shipped.

Still, I'll try out my pet theory and report back tomorrow for internet posterity.

I moved the 1k resistor from ground to 5v, jumped TPS to 2L (which is 4L on the DIYPNP) and set the calibration in reverse where 1023 is closed and 0 is WOT. Now it says 100% throttle at WOT and 0.1 everywhere else. I'd get under the hood and rotate the TPS to give myself a little room to let off the gas, but those screws are in a weird place and my VTPS arrives in a week
