Where do I hook up a shift light to the MS?
I found the settings for it, but I haven't been able to find where to set a pin for it. I have an Autometer Pro-Lite that I am going to use in lieu of a tachometer as a temporary thing.

nm i'm a retard close this.

Search n00b!:makeout:
edit: boo too late. |
All right, chucklefucks. Megamanual says Pin 10, but on the MSPNP that's the wideband input. Do I need to open my box and solder straight to JS7/JS8?
|
yeah, you'll probably have to jump two pins from the breakout header off the daughter board to JS7 and JS8 on the main board, respectively. easy enough.
|
JS8 is already taken as the second trigger input.
|
They aren't talking about the external pin 10 on the MSPNP, they mean the 10th pin of the processor socket inside the ECU. You can jump that to any of the spare pins on the external connector. Section five covers how to use the spare pins that we left for you guys on the MSPNP, MegaSquirtPNP by DIYAutoTune.com
Hope that clears it up. |
only retarded noobs get their threads closed. retarded 4000+ posts users have to suffer.

so if you turn the shift light function on, and use pin 10 of the CPU, would that screw up the trigger? |

I ran a wire from JS7 straight out the side of the case. Please tell me if this is going to make my neighborhood burn down before I start the car. |
Right, you'd get an error if you tried to run sequential shift lights, and the engine wouldn't run. You can do a one stage shift light with an on/off output.
|
I used two different outputs (js7 and Js3) and made a two-stage shift light work.
|
Nice Brain, now a housing. Would it work with MSPNP or?
I used EBC output to a huge single 12V led. Works for me. |
if you used output1 and output4 is could probably work for mspnp.

Nice, but I wanted something I'd notice. See around 0:10 for example:

That is very freakin' cool. I need this in my life. Everytime I try and drag someone I end up hitting the rev limiter because I'm just looking down the road. EDIT: What's with the uber-gay window tint? |
talk to brain1!!!!!! hes the shit

Nürburgring Nordschleife on Vimeo all you need is the light...something like this: http://www.raptorperformance.com/Ord...der%20Form.htm or this http://www.jegs.com/p/Auto-Meter/Aut...45851/10002/-1 I bought the brightest LEDs I could source on digikey in the 30 seconds i spent looking. but they seemed to light up bright enough to notice. |

So if I'm reading this right, in order to hook up an LED as a single stage shift light on a MSPNP, I need to solder a jumper from U1 pin 10 (JS7/Spark F), to one of the 8 unused header pads? I assume I'd also need the driver transistor and resistor as shown in the Shift Light section of the MS Extra Hardware Manual. Are there spares, or a proto area on the MSPNP?
Thanks, C |
FYI, my car wouldn't start with that wire connected. I never did any form of troubleshooting, just clipped the wire and ran it without a tach for 6 months. Didn't really miss it - one less gauge to watch. I had a 7400rpm rev limiter and I used it.
|
I modded mine to an alligator clip.... then clipped it to my wang.... it sends a nice little charge through... I NEVER miss a shift now.
|
With MSPNP I just hooked it up to the same output as boost control is, and then disable boost control, enable the output function and set it to 69 on RPMx100 or something.
|
Im gonna get Jeff to do this for me

MSPNP Output 1 as boost control
Something like that, I dont have my current MSQ here. |
Thanks man! I had steps 1 & 2 figured out, but the trigger value was unclear.

do you use the JS7 pin and out via the EBC (which is pin 9 on the harness)?
thanks |
