Who runs an MS3 basic w/flex fuel sensor?

I have a built 99 with an MS3 basic, EFR, ID1000's and am currently installing a dual feed rail and rising rate regulator and will also put a flex fuel sensor on the return line,
I am wondering if anyone is successfully runing the MS3 basic and is able blend fuel and timing maps according to methanol content?

I would also be very interested in hearing about this. Will be moving to MS in the upcoming year.

I'm basically doing the same thing you are, but just sitting on a pile of parts at the moment. I know Soviet's thread has some flexfuel sensor content but I've not seen much else beyond that.

In for dataz.

Hoping that the Indy group Dyno tuning will come to be and I can have a megasquit knologable tunner for a change, planning on getting a pump gas and E85 tune and perhaps some time to run it on a mix of both on the dyno to make sure it all works, that is the only want that I would be comfortable runing E85.

I hope you wait at least a few weeks before tuning. We are working on some substantial improvements to MS3's flex fuel functionality. Our dyno went down for maintenance; I should have it back up tomorrow and testing to begin after that. I have a Miata running on 99% ethanol right now, the purest stuff I could find. Picked up about 9 whp over pump 93.

The indy dyno tuning session wont be until February or March, that is, if the tuner we had in mind actually gets back to me and wants to follow through. Hhammerly and I would actually be willing to tow our cars down to Atlanta for you guys to tune. I know you guys don't focus on tuning for the public anymore, but if you change your mind let us know. Or maybe you know of someone knowledgeable who we could pay to fly out here and help us tune in Indy??

I already tried that... Perhaps
we can get a recommendation.
Please consider adding warmup and acceleration enrichment tables for E85 if it is possible.
Thank you so much for the continuous software improuvements you guys are allways working on.

I might be able to make a fly-in type deal happen. How many cars? Do you have access to a good load dyno (Mustang, Dyno Dynamics, Dynapack)?

Email is best. websales@diyautotune.com

Ben,
Any news on the E85 software update? got to get ready for March 13 !!!
Thinking of getting one of your new MS3 PNP's if i can have in time for the tuning and have a RV signal conditioner installed to run an OEM front wheel sensor for traction control as well as having the wiring to connect the GM flex fuel sensor.
I just sent Matt an email asking about it.

Ben 02-12-2015 04:35 PM

The firmware with flex fuel enhancements was released a month or two ago. The flex fuel functionality is *really, really* good now. I drove a flex fuel Miata (90 with 01 engine and MSPNP Pro 90-93) to and from the ChumpCar race last weekend. :)

I can't promise the 99-00 Pro PNP will be ready in that time frame. At least, it will be really close.

Ben,
Glad to hear that it is working so well, i will wire up the flex fuel sensor, can egt and update the firmware to make sure that everithing runing as it should before Scott gets here.
Thanks again

3 Attachment(s)
Finally updated the MS3 firmware to V1.3.4 and installed the resistors for the flex fuel sensor per Dimitirs instructions
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1425252195 Installed the sensor itself https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1425252195 and changed the settings on the fuel settings (have the fuel correctionand ignition corrections set to 100% untill i get this figured out) http://i1084.photobucket.com/albums/...CD9974F63B.jpg
For some reason the sensor signal fluctuates from 0 to 100% ethanol content as can be seen on the data log and started the car to get all the air out of the fuel line where the sensor is https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1425252195 any sugestions of what to look at next? Bad sensor? WTF??

EO2K 03-02-2015 12:41 PM

Holy wow. I didn't know there would be internal hardware mods required.

In4solution as I've got the same sensor. Thanks for blazing the trail here Harold.

Schuyler 06-24-2015 10:58 AM

Anyone having any further luck with this?

aidandj 06-24-2015 12:13 PM

I have the sensor. But haven't done anything with it. Maybe when I get my scope fixed.
